Kurtis, what the heck is this contraption? Looks heavier than any "tri" I've seen before. Ideas who made it or where and when? Thanks! -- Jimi

T-Head, no problem, man. Just thought I'd ask, 'cause I have a soft spot (in my head?) for old-timey junk yards -- or any junkyard with stuff from the '80s on back, for that matter. (Hard to believe, even '80s stuff has been crushed out and DISAPPEARED from most junk yards, isn't it?) Anyway, sme of you all have probably seen that I have a thread where we try to gather good junked-car shots in ONE place, so people don't have to hunt all over the web to take a "virtual old-time junk yard tour," ya know?

But this one you showed was one target-rich environment for HAMBers! Hey, anybody notice in this pic, it looks like the workers made a yard car out of something else. Even the seat is an old chest or desk!!! LOL

Here are a few classic shots from that other junk yard thread:

Earl Browing's junkyard, on Hwy. 20 near Burns, OR, in Harney Co. This
photo was taken by R.W. Heck a prolific photographer in southeast Oregon.
Heck's negs are maintained now by Tomas Robinson, a conservator who can
make framable prints (from the original negative) in about any size for a
reasonable fee. Here a link so people can follow up if they want a print:

The late Actor Robert Stack was a member of "The Pacemakers" car club from 1931-41. He owned and piloted this Al Jepson and Ed Winfield prepped 1931 Model "A" Hot Four. The car ran at Muroc, Harper, and the streets of Hollywood. It was Crager Equipped.

The FDNY truck is possibly a Knox and the second truck is built on a 6-70, 825 CI Thomas Flyer chassis.

A couple of trucks, both built in Wisconsin. First a Winther bus with rail wheels on it that was sent to Mexico.

The second a IH hauling a real necessity........Sanitary Costumes.

Driveway....Heck you could clear woods with those. I have both of those pixs and have studied them a little. They are actually two different trucks. Small and monster sized....

In this case, the car is not newsworthy but this 1926 photo is sure a famous one. It seems Babe broke scads of records, and in at least one instance, a window.

Too bad they didn't have a fire supression system at the Macon Auto Company factory in Macon, Missouri. It burned May 17, 1917. Here's the factory and a car that survived.
