Axle looks like it was under an old trailer which is a great way to find pieces like that. I've picked up 3 sets of round spindles, bunch of wide 5 drums and wheels, a couple good axles and 3 banjo rears in the last couple months by buying up old farm trailers. Think I have about $100 into everything, but I do live in the middle of farm land here and most of the farmers are just glad to get the old crap off the property.

 

lol nice, actually a friend of mine acquired it like that, was saving it for his tub project, until he found a shortened '40 axle, and we traded parts....
