OK I am dumb enough to bite is it a brake that works on inertia against the tongue of a trailer?

It would seem more like (note how it's mounted 90* of axle) a braking system to stop the rotating mass of machinery, but what is the machine.

MC itself seems likely to be a '39-48 Ford. Stromberg..Bendix...Locheed all combined, didn't they?
Next question...follow the tubing...what does that cylinder work??

This is a 1931 Stromberg-Bendix intake. There obviously was some sort of connection between the companies in the 1930's.
FYI, I owned 10 mining claims and really was annoyed when people stole parts off equipment on my property. Leave it alone!

Thanks man, I was going to say the intake/exhaust side but you get the idea.
No more chain drive wallets for me, I use a old blower belt. It's a big wallet. |

Looks like a 172 or 192 cid. ford industrial motor, also same motor on many early 60s tractors.
