i know that the chevy monzas with the 3.8 buick v-6 DID have electric chokes on the 2G-----which means it's actually a 2GE.

I have used Quadrajet electric chokes on 2GC Rochesters.

    That's true---i don't see why you couldn't use a q-jet elec choke.

I had to turn the spring around, but the quadrajet works great

Thanks - that's the answer I was looking for and didn't know it. Q-jets are by far the most common source of electric chokes which will fit the 4GC.

Of course, just my luck, the one QJ core I own has a heat choke.

Is there a down-side to running the exhaust-gas type choke on the 2bbl Rochester?

In my opinion, no. No disadvantage to the heat crossover type either.

Electric is probably simplest though, besides manual.

i think 85 lemans was fuel injected and 4 cyl. Do you mean 75?

  19. Mine was a carbed 229 V6.

"G-body"; same car as the Malibu, Cutlass, Regal, etc.

Second with the boat carbs, you can at least rob the choke setup off of one.

  21. I'm thinking that was a "Dual-Jet"... kind of looked like just the front half of a Quadra-Jet. The choke thermostat might still interchange though.

Dual Jets showed up in 79, on Malibu's at least. My 78 had a 2GC with a hot-air choke, my 79's both had Dual Jets.
