Default 56 chevy coilovers

hey folks i bought a 56 sedan delivery as a project. it came with a heidts tubular front suspension and coil overs. i find it curious that the coilover springs dont seat properly into the spring pocket in the frame. is this normal? the shock bolts into the top of the frame like a normal shock.

I'm confused, coil overs seat the spring in the shock as one unit. Why would you need it to seat in the frame? But I wouldn't trust the oem shock mounts to support the whole car. .02

the way these are installed the coilover bolts to the lower control arm in the normal shock location, then the spring slides over the shock and the bottom of the spring seats on an adjusting ring on the shock. then the coilover system is assembled by seating the top of the spring in the frame and the shock is the attached to the frame the way a normal shock attaches. this is a 56 chevy not an early ford where when you go to a fully independent front end the coilover is fully contained and just has a bolt at the top and at the bottom

Number one, I'm guessing the coil-overs you have are for a different car. Number two, didn't know Heidts made coil overs for tri-five sedans. QA1 sells a coil-over shock system. May want to check with CPP.
