Well, we do have a lot of lawyers in California. But I think Zombie's Dragfest proves that we do. AHRA might have, or could create a class, if enough cars are built. But, it's been decades since a place like George Ray's dragstrip could exist here. The HAMBsters didn't show up at Dragfest that I could see. But if people build enough of the dogsled dragsters, a class can happen.
This is cool beyond words. The fact that they could be run at non NHRA tracks is something to be checked out. I agree with Ryan that it would be damn near impossible to make it conform to current rules. If you managed to do it it would certainly loose the vibe you see here. I updated an early digger with history from around here a few years ago and like Ryan said, it would have been better/easier to start from scratch. It took awhile as I'm an old NHRA competitor (ran NHRA from 1962-1975) and watched a fun pastime turn into a wallet swallowing egorama. The only relevance NHRA has today is to corporate $$$$$'s and skyhigh admission/pit passes........................sad. Frank
i would LOVE to see these at dragfest... we are not bound by nhra rules. right now, we are set up to run 3 point cages up to 10 seconds. im gonna look into the legalities of this one. zombie
Kick-ass! Good to see that these are being built again...... Hmmm.......the 324 Olds I just picked up may have a new home....
Glad to here that Keith made this happen ! Humbolt Cat will be glad to hear/read that Samoa is what he has in mind. He announces @ that track. Where that pic was taken is Good Ol Dad's! (Vern's) Shop in the Orchard .
Ryan & Ryan (K.L.), Ironically, QQmoon & I were talking about this friday night, over a beer with a ANDRA rep... Lots of homework to be done here, but anything is possible.....you guys down there build one and I'll race ya, even if it's in swifty's back padock Cheers, Drewfus
Could probably run them at the Kingdon Reunion in Nor Cal in October as well. Now that the CHRR has gotten screwed up 6 ways to Sunday by making it a fecking Heritage Race, the cool exhibition stays home and Kingdon is the place to be in the fall in California. I just hope that it, Dragfest and Eagle Field don't become victims of their own success and end up running a more-NHRA-like program.
Hey Guys-Does anyone know of any tracks in the northeast (i'm in the peoples rupublic of numb jersey) that would let you run one of these?
More proof that Dragfest is becoming the best race/party in the west coast. I knew you'd step up here, Zombie.
I hope you do not mind if we build our own. I was in the process of a TE-440, but after looking at this one, It has hit the scrap pile. This one is just right. Seeing the blower on this one, mine should fit in fine. 273 ci Mopar, with a 471 blower on top. Robert
Heck yeah! Eagle Field! You should have been there this last weekend. Of course you are intitled to your opinion but I just compleated a FED that is NHRA legal and it's a blast, although Kieths car has a better traditional look to it. I don't much care to compete in NHRA events but i could if I wanted too. NHRA......No Happy Racers Allowed
I would love to see some built for our C/Gas Dragster class. I dunno about a 32 car field blown on fuel.
