Started this morning before 6 am. Stopped at about 6 pm.

I have been wanting to chop this car for years, I have said it for years that I was gonna. Today was the day.

I have been following threads, reading books and checking out pictures of this type of car chopped.

    Here's my take so far.

I am tired and will do some more later..

I don't think this turned out too bad for my first chop.

I like it and it's good to see that you didn't over chop it. Just right to give the sleek look without looking squished. Nice job on the quarter window openings too.

By the way, I love the shot with missing roof, open sawzall case on the fender and a very concerned looking woman in the back ground.

    Thanks.

No, I am to busy teaching to continue with my shop hours.

PM me your email address and I'll send you all of the pictures.
Funny. You forgot about it needing a new engine and that I should remove the 8 and put in a 6.:D

    Thanks Jeff.

Don't insult Ian like that....No way am I anywhere as talented as that guy. Thanks for the compliment.

She was the only help I had. Good sport too.

I need to PM you about how you did your wings.

Ass. I am glad we are friends and club members and that I may be one of the few people on this planet that get your sense of humor. I spit coffee out of my nose when I read that this morning, now I have to clean my keyboard.

I had a few questions on how I did it. I am a little OCD so I took lots of measurements.

I took 2 inch tape on the "a" pillars so it is exactly 2 inches but it is 1 1/2 vertical in the front. Also that means that the roof would move exactly 1 1/4 inches forward to meet up.

So I had some figgerin' to do. The rear is 2 1/4 vertical drop

I cut the rear corner pieces out next. I took exact measurments so the rear quarter window pieces that I cut out would touch. That point was measured from the rear of the drip rail just past the quarter window, to 3/16 back from the center of the quarter windows back curve in the body contour line around the window. Connecting the drip rail point to the mark 3/16 back from the body contour line at the center of the quarter window's curve, I drew as line to contact the body line. Up that line I marked the 4 1/4"

From the mark at the body line at the bottom of that vertical line I measured exactly 3" forward. Made a line vertical and parallel to the other vertical line up through the quarter window.

You can barely make out the sharpy lines in this picture.

I also marked a center line of the car so I could line up the rear window. I intend on raising it more I haven't decided just how much yet. I want it to look right.
I was hoping you could see it in this picture, but nope. I will take more when I am at it again.

I also had to make room for the rear of the top to slide inside the body. I will take pics of that too.

I have an idea also for helping with the attaching of the rear window. If it works like I think it will I will post pictures of it for some simple tech. Not that I know what I am doing....you probably don't want to copy me.:D
