I'm still working on modifying my 1959 Borum...bigger fins, extra tier on the bow, and reveneering it. I'll post some pix in the winter time.

There is an old unlimited hydroplane with an Allison V-12 near Ft. Wayne that I have pictures of somewhere. I'll see if I can find them.

I used to spend about a week each summer at the St Lawrence River fishing..close to Clayton NY. They have this antique boat show and auction and man are there some nice mahogany boats there. Definately a must see if you are ever up around the area. They are cris crossing the river all summer up there. http://www.abm.org/

You guys are killing me! I've had boats on the brain for a while now...now I gotta build one! Been looking at some of the Glen-l designs. Pretty cool stuff.

I am trying to dig up some pics of the boats my grandfather did in the 50's. One boat he did was in the move 'Magnificent Obsession'. Hopefully I can find the pics and scan them. He did some beautiful work.

Some very cool stuff on this site. One of the old timers I work with raced and worked with Henry Lauterbach back in those days and built a number of engines for some record holding hydros. He also built engines and crewed for a drag team that did really well in the 60's and 70's, most notably a Hemi powered Opel GT called "Mini-Brute". He's got some killer photos, memorabilia, and HISTORY. I love talking to the older guys.

Here are a couple I've been drooling over, stolen from another site. I absolutley LOVE wood boats and the lines they have. Too bad they are high maintienance. I'll stick to fiberglass;)

  19. That's almost the exact same design I came up with to make a Corvair powered wood runabout, even made a half hull and a 1:12 balsa model.

Chris Craft Cobra's were the first to introduce a "Fiber Glass" fin and marked an end of an era...!

She's a little to big to be considered a "speed" boat. But I love the lines and the combination of teak (mahagony?)& stainless.
