I just picked this up and am looking for ideas. The door handles have been shaved, and the floors and trunk look great with no obvious rust. The back has what looks to be 3.5" to 4" lowering blocks. Front needs to be dropped. The car is not running, but the PO said it never ran after he modified it to run w/ an alternator, so we will see. It was yellow and white. I was thinking it would lok great on the ground with a two tone and multi carbs on the Y block with lake pipes, but I am still thinking on what to do. -Spence
'55 Olds headlight doors (steal some) '55 Merc wagon taillights put the Customline side stainless back on cherry the stock grille make it low spinner hubcaps: '55 Buick, Fiesta, or Lancer paint it black optional: louvered hood, side pipes (no more than one outlet) no: skirts, fuzzy dice, flames, graphics
My 56 sedan has the customline trim .I cut out the middle of the grill and bent a 2" exhaust pipe and mounted 2 53 merc bumper bullits on it for a grill. It's lowered 3-4",is satin black and has white tuck & roll.Running gear-69 351 winsor and 4 speed.I'd post pics if I knew how!
The 56 sounds nice. I would love to see some photos. I am leaning towards putting the trim on, and lowering it and possibly doing a shiny top, flat black body. -S
Noooooooooooooo! Shiny all over!!!!!! All the trim! Slammed to the ground.....Trust me you won't be sorry. Mike
here are some pictures of the one we are doing at our shop. It has been sectioned 2 1/4" and We are getting ready to chop it 5". Scott
There are some sweet '55-56 Fords in the Kustom Kemps of America Commemorative Book. I personally love the blue/white one on page 107: '55 Pontiac side trim, mercury taillights, lowered, '57 Caddy hubcaps. Sweet! (Sorry, can't post a photo, but I personally think EVERYONE should buy a copy of the book; it is loaded with really good (and bad) custom ideas.)
Well this isnt a coupe, its a crown vic but it is a 55, and some more info i found this car was built in 1957 instead of 1958/60 like i thought... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2108481 Oh yeah the car started life as a convertible, then they added the crown vic roof dont know why yet trying to find that one out....
man,,, BCG, you KNOW i respect your work and all, but i gotta say (as a few others have in the thread you have about this bitchin car,,,) choppin this thing is gonna take away from the impact of the section. sectioning is becomming a lost art that most dont bother with, and you nailed it with the subtleness on this car. PLEASE dont chop it! LOL back to your scheduled thread already in progress
that car is friggin sick... lots of awesome details, i just cant figure out why they started with a droptop.
That car is Bad Ass. I'd chop it, but 5" chop is pretty radical have you thought about something less 2" or 3" ? FF
here is the one that I sold....I should never have sold it. I love that friggin car. Do not chop it. I have seen 2 chopped and they looked like crap.
i agree... hell that goes for the 52-56 if you ask me... that back glass kinda makes the ass end of the car, and without a TON of other mods to realy get a radical custom, it looses something in the process... seymour's buddy did a 54 ford sedan that has i b'lieve a 3" chop, and a shoebox rear window... its the only one i have EVER seen that looked right, but he got rad with the quarter blister and some other fine lookin mods too there is one other i can point too, but i cant remember who the hell it belongs to... its getting a mid 60's roof from a donor, and streched fenders, quarter treatment, tons of mods... He's posted it on the HAMB a few times, and now that i think about it... had it at a show last month "in the rough"
I have no idea either....I know the guy that owned it..Lived in Wallkill NY or something like that..I heard he owned an airport so who knows maybe he had money...I know the car was entered in an indoor carshow in Conn..in 1960...so i would love to find out more too.....
