I thought I recognized your name somewhere, I have a friend that went to your shop for some heart shaped tow hooks. Small world.

You have a killer setup out there it looks like. I do CAD by trade and would totally love to have a plasma table at home. You do good work, thanks for sharing it on here.

been slammed at the shop lately, just not a ton of what i have been doing is picture worthy. lots of welding and grinding. here are a few of the more interesting things i have been doing

this one is a little OT, but it is still cutting and grinding and some old school style work

truck in for a chop, laying out some cut marks

    top removed

starting to put the top back on, has the cut the posts at the top and bottom to line things back up

front of the roof all squared up and tacked on

going to have to split the roof to make things better in the rear. going to use this factor seam since the interior is metal and built into the truck. this should be fun

split at the seam, doing some grinding to make the gaps right

then cut the back part of the door jam out and slid it back

then time to make the pieces bridge the gaps

throw in some pie cuts to line the bottoms up

    starting to get some where

had to add a piece to the door jam from where it was stretched, used a factory seam to make it look stock

worked on fitting the door post back on the passenger side as well

Awesome work. I hope I have welds like you in the future! I see you have a tubular X member here. What size of tube did you use and thickness. Im trying to figure out what I want to use in my 31 coupe.

a little update on the OT truck chop. made lots of head way while the site was down

got the driver side door top welded back on

then pulled the roof skin off to metal work the roof seam, and to make things easier to stretch the inner roof sheet metal

welded up the roof skin, ground down and some hammer/ dollie time. i didnt get a pic of it but i ran it through the english wheel to smooth it out more

then moved onto the fun part. the inner skin. i split it at the factory seam and made the new filler spot weld to the flange like it did from the factory. two reasons for that, 1 a lot less welding/ warping, 2 it looks like it was never chopped. filler panels made and clamped up. dykem used to help lay out the trim lines for the fillers

all welded up and ground smooth inside and out, then some attention with hammer and dollie

its not perfect but nothing some high built primmer or a skim coat of filler cant fix.

made some more progress on the roof

had to make a filler panel to replace where i slid the rear of the door frame back

    all fixed up

then continued to weld and smooth out all the seams

You're doing some great work. Neat job on the pickup. I'd like to see a side profile of the roof. It looks like the back of roof will have a much nicer curve to it than the original

got a little more done on my aluminum chute body i am making

and have been working on finishing the hand made 4 piece hood for a 35 ford truck. hand made from scratch, hand rolled all the hinges with a hammer and dolly. still needs some fine tuning but it is all roughed in

been busy working on some OT projects to get them buttoned up. here are some of what i have been up to

finished up all the metal work on the willys M151A1

also been working on shaping the custom stretched running boards on the 35 ford truck. these have been challenging with the curve in the boards that match the fenders.

all the lines laid out for linear stretching

ran through the power hammer a few times to stretch the edge and roll it over

starting to smooth everything out with the english wheel

    starting to look like something

more to come on the running boards as they progress.

also made an aluminum hood for jo kerr, here i am doing the louvers

and been working on more custom cut parts on the cnc plasma. SBC header flanges with or with out the block temp sensor cut outs, round or square ports

more work on the 35 ford truck extended running boards

using the same card board template as i did for the driver side, just flipped over to lay out for the panel

panel cut out, high light line laid out, and marked every inch to use as guide when linear stretching

linear stretch dies in the power hammer

now it has to get ugly before it gets good

    one complete pass

    pass two

first trip through the english wheel

started folding edges over on the bead roller with a tipping wheel

when folding the edge in the radius this happens

a little time with a hammer, dolly and some shrinking

worked the edges up to a 90 and straightened them up a little with a hammer

here it is roughed in, still need to do some work on the english wheel, roll the body line in the bottom, and turn the edge under the body line. but it is getting there.

here you can see the curve of the running board and why it had to be stretched

hope to have the board itself finished up tomorrow and ready to go on the truck
