  5. $2000.00

Can you imagine going back in time and buiying up some of the most significent cars ever for next to nothing. True it wasn't cheep in the time but a guy could retire on just a few of the cars that sold cheep in the day and are now worth nearly 6 figures.

Oh well, at least alot of them are still around to see and admire.

Lynn is a great guy. In 1979 he came in my shop and gave me enough money to buy my first pre war BMW
    Mille Miglia racer :)

Do you think $1000 can change your life? YUP BIG TIME!!!

Somehow I'd missed this post the first several times around. I hadn't thought of, or looked at, the Yakel coupe for years. Looking at it newly, it is such a perfect execution of the chopped & channeled Deuce 5-window, that I would rate its significance as nearly that of the Doane Spencer roadster.

I'm not talking "significance" as in price, but as an precedent-setting example of a particular style that is so well done as to set the standard for those that follow it.

If some folks actually know where it is, go git it!!

You've got to at least stop and ask and if it is him see if he has any pictures of the 5w build or any information he would care to share. I just love this kind of "search and rescue" when it happens here on the HAMB. Just think, a California hot rod legend of sorts kinda living in my back yard.
Be sure to post any news you find for all to see.

I know Lynn Yakel is still with us and living in Michigan. According to an article I read on edmunds.com by Ken Gross he is still working on cars. I've got to get out there and interview him (and perhaps the Alexander Bros while I'm in the area) for the foundation.

The bad news is, a private collector called Ron Kellogg just bought his photo collection so looks like none of us will be able to enjoy these great pics unless we're willing to fork out the $$$. BUT the good news is we have some photos of Lynn's 32 5-window on our web site (www.ahrf.com)

Shaun...welcome to the site. Don't let anybody scare you away. An introduction is customary here and there are guys that try to police it. Not a big deal though.

I'm sure there are a lot of us that would love to see any pics you can share with us. We love seeing the old pics.

Show Your grandfather around here. Maybe he will become interested. I couldn't use a computer before I started checking out the HAMB. My addiction to the HAMB has helped me learn how to use the computer.

Let us know if you can share any of those pics.

Hi everyone, I just talked to Lynn Yakel today, he's in Michigan, and fiesty as ever, he last saw his 32 5 window in the 60's, engine out etc priced at $450 but it had been sold, it was in a garage in Montebello, he's a dear friend of mine for the last 50 plus years, he has done so much for the Hot Rod & Bonneville. Good question....and we all wonder.

We are all some hopeless nostalgics aren't we. :)
Love to look back and not just build new stuff.

Can't even imagine the "lifting up the tarp" and there IT IS feeling "
