I love the original and the recreation of this car.
It was the first real custom rod I ever saw when I was 13 years old.
After all these years the car remains an absolute classic!

True story. Last year I approached John Mearns at ACME Speed Shop and asked if he wanted to buy this design from me and sell it as an ACME shirt. His advice was to print it myself and that I should become a vendor selling at car shows like he does.

I said "really, how?" And he said he would help. I asked "wouldn't we be competitors?" He said "No man, it's a community, all the other artists and sellers are cool and it's really a lot of fun." So he told me what to buy, what not to buy, gave me names and addresses, put some killer graphics on my traveling trailer of printed shirts and gave me a list of shows to attend.

So here it is a year later and we're both going to be at Santa Maria selling our shirts this weekend. I'll be selling my original design above and he'll be selling this one which I designed for him later...

So the moral of the story is that if you're going to ask John Mearns to buy one your designs, be prepared to completely change your career direction, spend all your hard earned money printing a bunch of shirts, buying a pop-up booth and a trailer to put it in and then hitting the road like a traveling circus troupe and never look back.

I think this is my third or fourth time posting in the FAS but this just keeps getting better and better. Loving the gasser sketch! Reminds me of what I would scribble in my class notes back when I was still in high school! Nonetheless, here are some sketches I did this week.. Still practicing on proportions. :)

One of my Coupster project's final rendering. Still a few variables yet to be determined but basically what I'm shooting for it to look like.

And a sketch for a "customer" I guess of his OT-style Austin.

I don't own a scanner.. Yet.. So thanks for bearing with me everyone. :)

Great start so far! I did this one for an automotive art show this Saturday in phoenix. I hope the quality of the photo is ok. My cell is my only camera and computer right now. [IMG]

My homage to Dick Giordano. Not my art, but it is something I have wanted to do for quite a while. This is my first painting on canvas so please go easy on me. :) It's not quite finished but is close enough to get the general idea. Hope it fits in here. Thanks.

Back to film this week. Hope you enjoy them. Thanks for sharing all your great creativity, it”s a true inspiration. Slim

On this Memorial Day, take a moment form the beer and BBQ and remember those who fell.

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
