I've got a '53 Chieftain 2-door sedan myself. I'm just wrapping up freshening up a '52 straight eight to go into it.

What part of jersey are you from? I never see these cars; however, i have two friends from jersey who both have 53 sedans.

Nothing like those flathead straight eights running. Can't miss an old Pontiac engine sound.

We're right across the Deleware river from Easton, PA. I've owned the car for a couple of years, but it hasn't moved under its own power since 1980. We pulled it out of the garage last weekend to turn in around in preparation for the engine swap. Out with the dead six and in with the live eight...I hope. It still needs brakes and other work but I'm still digging it.

Here's another shot of the engine:

  16. Shpotty, motor looks great. I was thinking about your project last week and wondering how it was coming along. My '54 is down to bare metal and getting prepped for a purple flake roof and a pearl white body. What color is that on your straight 8? Drove mine to the shop and those straight 8's are weak on power but the cool factor is a 10+ when you pop the hood and then they figure out it has been running the entire time!!!!!

  24. Ma do I love those Injuns....esp the 47-50 fastbacks. Beetr chrome, stainless, dashes and trim imo than any of the others (except maybe Buiks) and those ultra kool Injun head hood figures.

    Krazy stuff....

Ill take my Torpedo fastback in green with two tone green trim thanx !!
