I actually like Pat's car better than the Nitti roadster,.... never thought that could be possible !,..... but your car has its own distinct personality,..... I can't get enough of it !

I had the pleasure of meeting Pat at a big KKOA show in Kansas back in 2000 or 2001. We talked for a long time. He is absolutely the most decent down to earth guy you ever will meet. He showed me lots of details on his little 56 truck. He also told me about the ugly side to magazines and all of the things that go on behind the scenes at them. I believe he told me he was editor at Hot Rod the shortest time of any editor ever. Seems his honesty and tell-it-how-it-really-is personality didn't jive with the powers that were in control of the rag at that time.

VERY nice. I love it all - the purple - the white R&P - everything!

oh man thats sweet, what a difference between tire and wheel choices. With the whitewall firestones it really does look like a time warp. Little chrome here and there but not too much, Great build.

Besides pretty much having a perfect car, the man can flat-out write.

Great article Ryan. Who took the pics? Great details, I'm stealing some ideas for my build.

    Wow. Nice car.
I'm a big fan of your journalistic and automotive work.
(Heck, I even like your '48 Chevy.)
    Thanks for sharing.

Looks great, with either wheel/tire combo. Nice to know there are other projects that take over 12 years to finish. Is this the same roadster that was featured way back when in R&C in a 4 page feature "How to Buy a Roadster"? Thanks for posting the history on the build.

    Love it!

Joe's car was a huge influence on me also.

Seeing Joe's car at the 75th in LA and a purple cabro I used to see in MN that So Cal Colorado built pushed me into doing purple on my project car we are working on now.

The different wheels really change the car...man it is nice.

    Congrats Pat! Perfection!

BTW, love you writing in the mags also.

I've been following the progress both in print and occassionally getting to see it in person when in Southern California, and I'm really glad to get to see the car in its finished form.

I can't see one thing that I'd change...I think it's perfect. And I don't say that very often, because I like a very specific style of hot rod. I especially like the way the car looks in the photo at the top of this thread with the 16" wheel/whitewall combo.

Thanks Pat, both for sharing that article and also for your perserverance.

    P.S. Ryan, you're a dork.

Only you could use a cornball baseball lead in for Pat Ganahl and (sort of) get away with it.

    :)

  13. It's been awhile since you and I have crossed paths Pat, so I'm glad to see you have not waisted the years building a Camaro or Cuda. Great job, well worth the years of investment.

The most beautiful roadster ever possibly. It is amazing the personality changes so completely with the Halibrands. Very Dr. Jekel and Mr. Hyde

  16. Wow,,Too Tall has hit a home run with his roadster and as others have said,,I like it better than the Nitti car that was the spark that led to this beautiful roadster.

Congrats on a car that WILL stand the test of time and become a benchmark for years to come. HRP

  17. dead on! bitchin roadster

  18. It takes a big man to look at a '99 Plymouth minivan, and say "I'm going to paint my deuce roadster that color"...

BTW, I was going to paint mine that color... Still might.

Years from now they will be refering to the Ganahl roadster just like they refer to the Nitti Roadster today. When someting is right it's just ....RIGHT!!!
I prefer the whitewall baby moon look but nothing wrong with the alloy wheel combo, just a different flavor. There is not much Pat has done that I could possibly find fault with and I'm glad he chose to do his thing around hot rods.

Terrific writing and a car that is just plain beautiful. How soon can we get 15 (or a hundred and 15) more photos?! Made my Friday; I'll be back around lunchtime to drool again!

    Pat,

The (Nitti style) roadster is perfect...and so is your writing.
Been a fan of both for decades!

Really cool car. That purple is just the right shade to hover somewhere between the two styles he pulls off with the different sets of wheels. The upholstered trunk lid is awesome!
