I know alot of you share the same fetish for old gauges. I just bought a unique one so I thought Id share. Post up any cool photos of old RPM gauges here. Stewart Warner, Sun, you get the idea.

Not sure the exact era of this one, or what Stahl was. All I know is I think it was worth the $28 I spent on it.

Heres a portion of my collection. Its mostly 60's musclecar stuff more than 50's hotrod, but some of you may dig it anyhow.

I've got an identical one to this (albeit used) sitting on my desk right now. I'll sell it to you if you want it.

I've been collecting up some mechanical tachs. Just picked up a Stewart Warner, but most of them are Moroso. The earlier Moroso mechanical units were manufactured by Jones...just like your Stahl branded one. I think they were all the same, but different screen print designs on the tach face. Didn't Stahl make headers primarily?

I think i remember seeing stahl tach and other gauges on late 50's;early sixty's fire truck gauge panels.

Anybody know where this was used? It has a tell-tale needle with a reset and a mechanical drive-curved glass lens. I was thinking of using it on my flathead.

  23. Any idea if it is possible to replace the glass in a Sun Super Tach II? Been in my 69 Nova SS since I bought it in '79. Most likely from the mid 70's.
BTW...That collection of gauges is sick!

  24. Sorry, also is it possible to calibrate the factory tach in my '64 Olds Starfire? If so, who does it? Off by at least 1,000rpm

well have you changed trans, tire/wheel size? that just takes little plastic gears if it's a hydramatic.

Since nobody answered the Dixco question, all I can tel you is they were around in the '60's and '70's, and also offered the infamous "Big Daddy" tachometer, which sat on your hood in a fairing and was painted like an American flag. I had one on my Max Wedge for a time, and one in my Morris Minor.
