Objective: to install a 1953-56 Ford F100 steering gear (using a Vern Tardel aluminum wedge) in an after-market 1932 Ford frame. The steering column and column drop will be original 32 Ford. Body, firewall and dash will also be original. Questions: will the steering column drop attach to the original mounting location under the dash without any alteration/relocation of the column drop/dash? If alteration/relocation is necessary what are they? Thanks in advance.
I used an earlier f 100 in my 29 on 32 raills .It should be in the same spot on dash ,and youll have to relocate mounting holes ,You will have to shorten column ....
I would think you would have to drill new holes in the bottom for the column drop,As the wedge will offset the column around 1/2''?I don't have the wedge in front of me,So I can't remember the thickness! I am using this same setup in my 32,But I am using a offy column drop and not a original.
I don't know a thing about the Tardel wedge, what does it do? I'm planning on a '30 Roadster on '32 rails.
the 32 frame tapers in a little while the f100 box is square. The wedge just lets the two mate solidly so your steering wheel ends up in the right place..
Is the stock 32 sector hole the place to put the 56 f100 and if so who has a templet to drill the stock hole alone with fender holes. Does the wedge work or should you weld on a new flange?
