Does it really matter what era it's correct to, as long as it's correct during some period that the car would have existed? I think it's a great build, and a shame people try to find fault with some small part of it.
Keep up the great work Chris!

The only thing that matters is that the car is being built to conform to the rules of the group Chris is going to be racing with. He's doing a damn fine job.

I'm assuming high 5's low 6's in the 1/8th are the goal?
You are making good time on this build.

Lord willing and the creek don't rise. We hope to hit the low 5's.

To go 5.90's in the 1/8, you need to be able to run about 9.20-9.30 in the 1/4.

That would be a about 6/10's quicker than the A/G record circa 1967.

477 cu. in. would put the Boogie Man near the old A/G weightbreak if the car comes out about 2400 lbs.

Tires hook much better these days, but I would guess the engine would still need to be a bit more efficient than a record holding level A/G car from the mid 60's.

With the better heads, and cam's these days ... who knows.

Low to mid 6's no problem, high fives may take a bit of work and thrashing to achieve I'm guessing.

It's going to be a fun ride no mattter what. :)

You would be correct on all you say. But we don't have a weight rule. But we have cars in our group running 5.90s already. Some weight 2800 pound or more. The average for the group right now is probably in the mid to low 6s. So all I can say is thank the lord for the new engine technology. And more

Tires and tracks are different too. The tracks around here were nothing more than a two-lane tar and gravel road, no concrete "launch pads" and the track wouldn't pull your shoes off when you walked on it. If you ran low 10 quarter miles in the 60's, that was something to crow about.

5.90's - low 6's? (approx 9.20-9.50 1/4 mile), I didn't realize "Quain & the guys" were running quite that quick.
That puts them on par with the best of the altered wheelbase injected funny cars 1965/1966 era, and they were on Nitro. Can't wait for them to get close enough to go see them do their stuff in person! :D

I apologize for being such a math nerd.

Great looking build ... don't let the HAMB nazi's distract you from the finish line.

Vintage drags in Atlanta in late September ...

I don't know what internals these guys are running, but I would assume these motors pump out an easy 100+hp compared to the old days. Rollerized valve train and new aftermarket heads probably make up the difference.
