    COOL thread! :rolleyes::D

    Here's my contribution. I have been trying to figure out what the hell this thing is for awhile. If anyone can tell me what it is, I would owe you beer. You have to be right though. You can't tell me it's a Henway 5000 snow cruiser and expect to get beer! :D

    This does appear to have been designed for use on the snow. NOT an afterthought. I think it was skid-steer setup as well. OH... the little platform around it was DEFINITELY and afterthought and was not well constructed. I'm guessing it wasn't supposed to have anything around it and maybe just a truck bed or stake bed out back.

    It's definitely a skid steer design. I love the center Cyclops light and whitewall bogey tires, that thing rocks!

    Apparently this thing has been sitting in that location for years and I remember the first time I came around the bend and saw it sitting there. I just about went head-on into oncoming traffic! LOL! I immediately pulled over and went up to it. The chick I was dating at the time just didn't get what the hell I was doing. I got the "just some old snow car" speach. Needless to say that relationship didn't last long! BWAAAHAH!!! YES! That thing ROCKS!

    There was something just like this on ebay a couple of years ago - I wish I kept some pics - it had an aluminum body and a henderson engine. It was really cool and not too far away from me but the guy wanted some decent coin for it.

    I am surprised no one has thrown in a picture of Dr Fates snow car from the 60's movie The Great Race, I think it is still at the Petersen museum :)

    It's "Professor Fate"! One of my favorite movies. I think they just put skies on the front axle of Professor Fate's Hannibal 8.

    Both the Hannibal 8 and The Leslie Special are currently on display in the Hollywood Gallery at The Peterson Automotive Museum, Los Angeles, California.

    Will you give me a "lite" beer if I tell you it is, or was an IH K-3 or KB-3 cab and chassis with a homemade grill and skid steer conglomoration added to it?
    Check out Farm Show magazine sometime. There are a lot of homebrew tractors and skidsteers in it, some crude, some factory-like.

    WOW! Okay... I can see how it resembles an IH cab and the hood spears do resemble a K-3. Hmmmm.... It's really hard to find pictures of IH trucks on the net... SOOOO... I'll have to trust that you are a pro and know what you're talking about! :D

    The Snow Cruiser was an incredible vehicle, well worth reading up about. It even had its own Beech Stagger Wing Bi-plane that it piggy backed around.
    Check it out here:

    I drug up this thread because I found this while surfing the web. This one was on the Library of Congress Flickr site.

    The caption says "Fred Waters in Auto Sleigh"

    Wow! That was really cool. I have to say that the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture and before I read the story was that the wheels would not work. I'm kind of shocked they didn't go with tracks of some sort - especially given that the guy that designed it had experience in the snow.
