    Hey all,
I don't see one yet, so I'll start the Thurs/Friday art show! ;)

I've got several new things right now.

    fun fun.

First up is a tiki I recently painted. I'm using a new technique. I'm going for that SHAG/60's illustrationish look. Maybe I'm doing o.k. maybe not.

Great tiki's TINGLER, I love the clean look you pull off with acrylics!

Django I'm really diggin' the poster man, very cool use of text!

This isn't a car, so I hope this falls into the "culture" Brush...:D

This ones dedicated to all the cool guys down in Texas! It's on a 20x30 canvas and was painted all with 1-shot.

......and automotive culture is defined as stuff like skulls, tikis, monsters, cartoon characters, etc etc.....correct? ;)

In other words, lowbrow type stuff.....

So this Week in Automotive art History..I bring you Andy Virgil....

Andy Virgil was a highly sought after and prolific illustrator during the 50's.60's and 70's.
He worked at a few large studios in the NYC area and painting race cars was a passion. He nearly got killed one year at Indy..when shooting ref. on race day,he was narrowly missed in the pits by a racer speeding in for tires.

A passion for his craft.....he was a very good jazz trumpeter that was taught by Maynard Ferguson.A major dispute with his studio boss came to blows one day over money in the early 70's and the agent ruined his career by bad mouthing and slander.

Andy died of cancer in 1980.

    I give you Andy Virgil.........

    Thats an excellent idea.
I'm looking forward to future installments.

Here's some more of my work.
    Here's a mad bomber dog.

    Title: "Mad Dog Parsons".

I knew a guy back home with that name. He was about as round....and about as good looking.

    Maybe slightly less menacing. :D

Whoop! been waiting for this...had a little trouble with posting but after a quick kick to the brain by brush i'm now on track! haha

ok first is two versions of my buick roadmaster custom! blue/black suede paint, slammed, moon discs, shoebox-buick custom grille using parts from both, bonnet(hood) reshaped to match grille and buick bonnet(hood) lines reworked to suit..lower bumper valance has been smoothed and now has a neat rolled bead to mirror the bonnet and surround the licence plate! pinstriping, tuck and roll, and shaved trim finish it off!

next up...got my finger out and actually painted a small canvas using acrylics and a not so small brush! was inspired by all the real painting going on here so thought i'd join in..crap photo but still....sled!!!

last, two versions of my latest rod rendering!, this is my kind of rod, and my kind of rendering. for my work most people ask me to produce really neat polished renderings like the buick above but they feel a little soul-less to me...these two are based on some fairly scruffy ink work and neaten'd up just enough using the airbrush tools and my tablet/lightpen in photoshop!

    hope you like em! :)

  23. Tingler, that stuff is fantastic! I love the way those new Tiki things look.
    Django, your work looks great.
Brush, thanks for keeping us in line.

Here's one I posted on "pictures of you and your car." followed by an older Photoshop illust. of my car in it's current Red and "what would it look like in yellow." It's based on a thumbnail sketch I did on a post-it.

And finally, A buddy of mine (the guy I bought the Ponch from) bought a '53 Crestline HT a few years back and this was one of my suggestions on what to do with it. He didn't.
