Good to see! daddy-o, we met at Detroit two years ago when I was all up in your '54s grill. Studying how to do my Ranchwagon. We were there with Hot Rod Chassis. You'll do this thing up right. I'm watching this!

  2. This showed up today. I don't know how I'm supposed to use it because it's got 164 holes in it?!?!
    LOL...

A big thanks to our own fab32 for this one. It came out of Frank's collection.

I SOOOO need that trunklid for mine!!! I have a super sweet original, but the louvers put it over the top! Can't wait to see the pieces come together.

  5. Ok, I was wrong. I think it's gonna work afterall...

They are not my favorite profile of louvers, but they match the ones on the hood top I picked up from another HAMBr. So I guess they are my NEW favorite louver. ;)

  6. Mock up is looking good so far. I swear that roof looks a little taller every time I see it. We may have to do a little something about that. Maybe a lot of something...

I got a chance to sit down with Jo this weekend and discuss some more details. I also met with the painter and the engine builder. Everyone is on board and excited to see this this come together. I'm stoked to have this team working on the car.

EFI for the Hilborns? What are you using for transmission?

Nice mockup. Everything is right where it belongs. Glad you restored those subframes and floor. I had a '32 5 window Highboy some years ago...sold the fenders to fund a 304" flathead...
    Fellow louver lover...

  9. Ya, Mike the Hilborn has Been converted to EFI. I decided to go that direction because I think nothing looks better on a nailhead, but I intend to drive this thing a ton. I plan to a run a hood, so it's not like most people are even going to notice. The hood sides will come off at times to change up the look.

    Let the haters hate.

    Tranny is a t-5.

I hope to meet you this year at Autorama. You going to be there?

  15. 3wLarry - That's what I keep telling Jo!

Honored to see you paying attention to my little ol' build. Your car has been one of my favorite deuces of all time. This build is heavily influenced by your old car. The front end treatment, the stance, the chop, the fit and finish. Perfection!!!

I'm doing the same style of front end except my choice of axle was a little different.

We are also doing a slightly different twist (literally) on the "Rolling Doanes" front end treatment. More on that later.

    Thanks again for the inspiration.

  16. Ryan couldn't get away, so Jo has been flying solo this weekend.

Working on cowl lip that was hacked off when a flat firewall was installed back in the day.

    More pics soon.

Man it's coming together, the moc up looks real good. A lil trim off the top would look good.

Saw your coupe at the open house, and you explained the build plans. It's going to be a killer HOT ROD! I guess the black modified frame that was sitting next to your coupe is a hint about your front suspension. I think it's a very good idea, and should work real well. Hope it starts a trend.

It would be nice if we could get an update on the modified too....tell Jo.

Did you convert the Hillborn to EFI yourself? If not where you get it done I'd love to do it for my flattie. I think its a great idea?

  23. A boner, I'm glad you got a chance to get to the open house. It was a great time and another good opportunity to meet more HAMB members. That modified is going to be pretty cool for sure.

Ghost, my Hilborn was converted to EFI when I got it. Can't help you much on the how-to. Sorry man.
