This has been fun to watch. First is my Dad's old Roadster. In the early 80's I had a farm kid telling me his Dad had an old hot rod. I didn't think he knew what he was talking about, but kept it in the back of my mind. Years pass (maybe 10?) and the kid needs help setting up his dirt track car and enlists the help of my Dad. He gets the Roadster as payment for the chassis set-up....Lesson learned on my part.

Dad saved the body which was pretty tough in the rear quarters, built a new chassis, set it up for a 292 inline, and a Halibrand Champ rear and really got the fabrication work dialed in really nice. Over the years he lost interest and last fall he made a deal with his younger brotherr (My Uncle Dean) who at retirement age hit the project with a vengeance. In five months he tied up the loose ends - wiring, plumbing, new motor, tranny rebuild, and really overcame some hurdles like a cracked head, and leaking front tranny seal to get this car on the road. You should see this running around Iowa and the midwest.

Next up is Karls "T" Roadster. Several years ago I bought a T roadster body from Milwaukee (Jaker). I had more projects than garage space and sold it to a local guy who wanted to build his first Hot Rod. Quite an undertaking and he has the makings of a really cool car. He built the chassis, set it up with a 322 Nailhead, F150 tranny, cowl steering, Buick brakes, 35 wires. The body is out for paint, and just tonight we fired up the nailhead for the first time and it really went pretty easy through the break in period. Heres a pic.

I can't seem to embed the video. So you'll just have to look at the picture and make your best engine noises.

Both look pretty darn good, Dean does good work and it must be a genetics thing, both cars look great. I hope I get a chance to see Dean's roadster this year!

OK, here's a video of Karls Nailhead being refired yesterday for a little post-break in shake down.
    Were getting the body today.

I'll be posting up more pictures of my Dad / Uncles roadster later this evening.

    Enjoy

A few more of Dean's. This is what a free Roadster looks like. It was pretty tough, but it was a real roadster body!

Heres a picture during the build,

  20. Both are looking awesome. I remember the road trip to get the T body, that was fun. Does the A still have pig poo scent?

That sure is an odd color combo on the T, but I like it. My Dad had a '32 tudor with the same light gray color body, and he put orange wires on his. Everybody thought it was an odd combo too, but it grew on ya.

Offy intake on the nailhead. The color on the T is more flattering in person. Also changes a little depending on the light.
