All the Kontinentals want to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of you hoodlums who came out and spent the weekend w/ us at the the coolest track in the world. Wow what a two days out there. Weather was perfect and the cars, what can I say, they just keep getting better and faster and more exciting to watch. For those of you out there on Friday night we did get the Continental Kid on the track for a run , but once again, I am learning as I go, and as a result of more clutch issues, one lousy non-run was all Team 111 made , but like Skot said at least i got some seat time. I am getting it ironed out for good and switching direction and getting the good stuff (either McCloud or Hayes equipment) to lock that engine to that rear end and go man go. I can't wait. Of course Skot Ingram won the Collin Casey Award again for the 3rd straight time w/ a blistering run in his FLATHEAD powered dragster so once again I will go to the engraving shop and put his name on the trophy. Would someone please show up and give him a run for his money........gotta be w/ a flatty though.
I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere out there this year and hopefully it looks like we are on to something w/ our new format. We will continue to tweak the rules and classes and hopefully continue to improve on it next year. Speaking of next year put it on your calendar Friday and Saturday Oct 4 & 5, 2013 is our weekend. Who cares if its ACL Fest weekend, that even a better excuse to get away from the chaos in Austin. Also due to the size of the crowd on Friday out there at the dragstrip, we are talking to the track about having the track to ourselves not only Saturday, but Friday too. There is force in numbers and the guys at Little River realize that its probably time to let us have the run of the place both days. I do want to also thank Kirk and and all his crew at Little River. They did an amazing job keeping things moving along all day. Everyone on his staff is a real pro and we couldn't do it w/o them all, so a big thanks to all of them. As a matter a fact if you want to really to help those guys out support that track thru out the year !!! Go racing out there more than once or twice a year. They need our help all year long. This event really helps them out financially, but it doesn't carry em thru out the whole year. Lastly as great as the weekend was out there, it was very bittersweet for a number us in attendance. We lost our dear friend and legendary musician Nick Curran on Saturday morning to a long fight w/ cancer and it made the day pretty tough for a number of us. Nick loved this event and cars in general and I know he was smiling down on us all day, but I guarantee you that was where that chill in the air came from. Nick RIP and all you out there go buy one of his records and turn it up, just like he would have done. Once again thanks for making this just a great annual event for all of us in the area. It is truly unbelievable what this has grown into thanks to all of you. That's in for now, I will see you on the track. Look out for Team 111.

This is by far my favorite event of the year. I've missed a lot of car shows lately but I haven't missed a DOTD since I moved to Texas in 2007. I finally got the courage last year to actually "run what I brung", no matter what hell may come. I haven't had to call AAA yet, thank God. I got a little faster this year thanks to cooler temps and some octane booster.
I was too busy making passes to ask, but what were all the cameras/film crew about? |

A great weekend out there for some drag racing and thanks to everyone for the support for the show! Can't wait to see Team 111 get all dialed in and really tear down that track.
Nick, we will miss you, man - the world rocks a whole lot less without you here, but you left us a lot of great music that lives on and on. Turn it up, ya'll... |

Its a kick ass event and I am glad it is so successful. I have been coming every year since 2005. Started out running 13's and I broke into the 8's this year, it sure is addictive.
Kirk is a stand up dude and a good fit for the track, I think he will be very successful there. Looking forward to going back out there in April. |

I'm agreeing with Dan Hay....this sure is on the top of the list for Hot Rod Events for me....along with Speedjunky..." Kirk is a stand up dude and a good fit for the track, I think he will be very successful there. Looking forward to going back out there in April.".... What a super day

I didn't know that about Nick Curran. Damn what a terrible loss.

I want to "chime in" with a big thank you to EVERYONE who puts this deal on. So great to meet Kirk, what a great guy and what a great crew! Steve, I look forward to a match race with you one of these days! Skot, Bill, Blake, Crash, Reggie...... I could go on and on about all the fun conversations we had all weekend. I just left dinner with all the bunch that was there with me. Everyone just raved about the weekend. Just amazing. Truly with out question one of the best weekends of my life with cars! If we ever get to make just one clean pass..... well some day. The perfect pass.... wow. Can't wait. Elmo

Great show Jefe and Brian. All I saw were smiles and hand shakes all weekend. Great venue to see old and meet new friends.
