It's been a few years since I joined up here so I may not be remembering this clearly. But it seems like it was just a simple matter of signing up, coming up with a user name and a password and I could pretty much login immediately and start posting.

How about a 24 hour delay between registering and being able to make your first post? I know; this goes against everything the internet stands for. But do you suppose there's any chance that new members would be more likely to read the "Read This First" post? Maybe look around the forums and get a better feel for what gets posted where?

And as an added bonus, could it maybe do anything to thwart the spammers?
