Finally finished my 33, this last version has a 283 57 with three 97s and a 39 gearbox all installed without any cutting in body or frame.
Closed driveshaft, mor drop axle, hydraulic brakes. Ready to put a smile in my mind

That's so cool! Take a friend and have them video the ride, post it on YouTube and then post it here.

I use a modified Hurst front mount with donuts over the original mounting holes in frame, and speedway motors rear mounts also with donuts. No mount for the gearbox, it hangs loose ![]() I also use the original struts from frame to rear enginemounts The distributor is a smallbase Mallory and the adapter is a Wilcap. Belt wheel has a clearence over the spring clamps of about 8 mm and the distributor clears the wall with about 10 mm. Also i had to lengthen the TT because the gearbox ended up about 20 mm to the front. In short, I concentrated on gettin the engine in first without cutting anything and then adressed the issue with the rest of the driveline. Last edited by mctommy; 07-30-2012 at 10:15 AM. |

Good save on that virgin firewall. Goes to show why the sbc has been the most popular
swap over the years....... |

Looks good! I plan on doing the same transplant soon. Are you using a mechanical fan? What is the tensioner for on the motor?

You have done a nice job on that 5 window! Like your choice of motor and trans. If you have any chassis build pictures, please post them.

I've was told by a couple old timers,( about my age)you could install a sbc in a 34 without cutting the firewall and run a mechanical fan, but I've never seen one,or been able to pull it off, what kind of fan are you running?? Dave
