Default 33 5w together at last

Finally finished my 33, this last version has a 283 57 with three 97s and a 39 gearbox all installed without any cutting in body or frame.

Closed driveshaft, mor drop axle, hydraulic brakes.

Ready to put a smile in my mind

Took some trial and error, it,s a 57 engine so there is no centermountings.
I use a modified Hurst front mount with donuts over the original mounting holes in frame, and speedway motors rear mounts also with donuts.
No mount for the gearbox, it hangs loose
I also use the original struts from frame to rear enginemounts

The distributor is a smallbase Mallory and the adapter is a Wilcap.

Belt wheel has a clearence over the spring clamps of about 8 mm and the distributor clears the wall with about 10 mm.

Also i had to lengthen the TT because the gearbox ended up about 20 mm to the front.

In short, I concentrated on gettin the engine in first without cutting anything and then adressed the issue with the rest of the driveline.

Good save on that virgin firewall. Goes to show why the sbc has been the most popular
swap over the years.......

Looks good! I plan on doing the same transplant soon. Are you using a mechanical fan? What is the tensioner for on the motor?

The fan is a four blade from a Volvo Amazon, cut a big hole in it and welded it on the midpart of the upper belt wheel, so it doesn,t stick out in front of the wheel.

The tensioner is instead of an generator Don,t have one yet.

I've was told by a couple old timers,( about my age)you could install a sbc in a 34 without cutting the firewall and run a mechanical fan, but I've never seen one,or been able to pull it off,what kind of fan are you running?? Dave
