This one's rare and still in great condition. "Pencoil" name was dropped in 1929 and changed to "Pennzoil". This porcelain curb sign is double sided and still has the correct stand. Both sides in similar condition. You don't see these EVER. If you're a sign guy, it's a must have. I can ship it if needed, or can deliver to the salt flats during Bonneville Speedweek.
$1500. Shipping is on your dime. macsgotgas@me.com ![]() The legal jargon behind the name change: "On October 15, 1929, the Pennzoil Company, a corporation organized under the laws of the state of California, and having its principal place of business at Los Angeles, filed its petition in the United States Patent Office for cancellation of the appellant's trade-mark, under section 13 of the Trade-Mark Act of February 20, 1905, as amended; U.S.Code, title 15, § 122 (15 U.S.C.A. § 122). The mark sought to be canceled was the word "Pencoil," which was duly registered by the appellant, Pennsylvania Petroleum Company, of Kansas City, Mo., on August 21, 1923, No. 172,050, on an application filed August 19, 1921.
