Hey Man, here is the answer to your little pink leather thing.
I mean the one for your truck!

Thanks Flow. I'm still not exactly sure where that goes though, ha! Must be later than mine?
Tim, I was so frustrated with them that I've just been running it with the center carb only. I did buy a set of new machined bases to try out and they seem to seal very well (visually anyway.) I've been just driving it when I can. Things are busy at the house, and I've been trying to get my shop a little more organized so not a lot of time in on the old girl. I did take it to a local show a few weeks ago and got some nice compliments ( and also some RR comments but whatever.)Thanks for asking! It looks like you're making good progress on the sedan. Still on target for Salina???

Yup more or less, a lot of stuff that in a perfect world should take 10 minutes has taken 4 hours do I'm a little on the long side of the plan but with Sarah's help I think we should make our deadline. Wanted to make sure I could drive it to work and back for at least a week before the big trip.
Got our room booked and our route planed so all that's left if sweating it out. You guys going to make it? |

Here is a pic from the show I attended. It was part of some magazine tour from California or something. Street Rodder maybe? I dunno. There was some injected '40 coupe they were displaying. There were lots of nice cars in attendance.
I even caught Charlie and the Maserodi on the way out. Sent from my Droid using TJJ sucka!

yeah, the 34 is kicking my ass in many ways. nothing major. but i think i underestimated a lot of things.
the 54 is back together with a new bell and rear main and is quite happy. i've been driving it daily for 3 weeks or so, waiting for the bugs to show themselves. but there havent been any. |

I can dig it. I think I registered my truck twice for the drags and then finally made it the third year I signed up!
I'm glad you got the '54 back together. It will be nice to put a face with the name come August. I'm down with the rest of the Vagabonds already, ha!

Speaking of rear mains, mine has leaked for a while and was getting worse. We recently put in a lift at work for truck maintenance so I figured it was time to change it out. I used the old sneaky Pete and it went pretty well. The trimming of the ends was the shitty part. I cleaned all the "rustproofing" off of the underside while it was up. Well, I got it all put back together and took her for a spin... And it still leaks! Poop.
I think it must be the cam plug leaking? Oh well. Sent from my Droid using TJJ sucka!

Hey Dave! What's up bruddah?! I was hoping you guys were still speaking to me. I haven't forgotten about the Heaps!
And actually, I suck, and the truck's kinda "meh" but whatever.

So, I haven't been very diligent about updating this thread. I've made a few changes for the better I think. I blew my wad and bought some whitewalls and they make the truck much more sense to me. It now feels more like a late 50's hot rod. I also found a full set of the '38 Deluxe hubcaps I wanted.
I also decided it needed some nerf bars so I looked at several examples and in the end decided to blatantly rip off my favorite '32 Ford, the Lloyd Baken coupe! Plus, they match my mustache! Ha! Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad

I also made a simple bar for the rear out of some stainless steel.
All finished up just in time for a trip to the HAMB Drags... Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
