Default Dropped Axles for early Fords

…..Anson..…
.......Dropped Axles.......

The Deal
I drop only 28 to 48 ford passenger and pickup axles at this time.

All repairs and straitening are done first.
Then they are bent hot - pressed over dies for a consistent shape side to side.
Then fine tuned cold in the press for correct camber … 1 ½ degrees positive.
Then sandblasted and returned bare.
Small repairs when dropping yours are no charge.

If you send me yours … that’s what you get back ... no games.
All prices - shipping info - photo examples - address’s are listed below.

1928 to 31
On these a 3 inch drop by me is very close to the same as a
so called 4 inch drop new axle.
These have a bit more distortion when dropped than the 32 up axle simply because
they must be bent further… not a big issue but to my eye they don’t look quite as nice.
I will do them up to 4 inch drop but that makes for even more distortion.
47 to 49 inch kingpin centers (48” is the standard)
3" drop shown ..... less is always an option

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1932
On these a 2 inch drop by me is very close to the same as a so called
4 inch drop new axle.
What can I say … the heavy axle is the classic hot rod axle.
My favorite on these is 2 ½” drop … at 3 inch’s they start to distort.
Unfortunately they are expensive … but sometimes I get one for a decent price and
I pass that along.
47 to 49 inch kingpin centers (48” is the standard)
2 and 2 ½” shown
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1933 to 36
On these a 2 inch drop by me is very close to the same as 4 inch drop new axle.
These in all honesty are my favorite … they just look so good. As with the 32’s these are perfect at 2 ½” drop IMO
47 to 49 inch kingpin centers (48” is the standard)
2 ½” shown

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1937 to 41 - 42 to 48
2 inch drop by me is about the same as 4 inch new axle.
I keep these very close to stock width … dropping further than 2” makes for much
distortion.
If your doing a 37 to 40 (or 41 pickup) you can always use a 35 or 36 wishbone and therefore then use the 32 to 36 axle.
If you have a 48 w the shock hole? I recommend doing a 42 to 47 …. The hole will not survive the drop
1 ½” drop 37 to 41 shown
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

V8 60 hp axle
I do these 1 ½”
Iv done only 4 of these … they are kinda hard to do so I must charge more.
I wouldn’t recommend one for a heavy car … they bent much easier than the beam axles.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whats it cost? (all prices are + shipping)
Repair & drop your axle........$250.oo
Drop V8 60 (tube axle).........$375.oo
Repairs
Fill spring wear.......................................$25.oo
Straiten bends and twists........................$35.oo
Kingpin & perch holes.............................$25.oo each
Camber change......................................$50.oo
Dropped axle outright
1928 to 31...........................................$300. oo
1932.............................................. .....$650.oo
1933 to 36...........................................$375. oo
1937 to 48...........................................$300. oo
ETA
I don’t keep any done axles in stock
Usually (depending on work load) about 2 weeks.
Shipping
Inside the 48 states its not as bad as you may think. West coast is about $25 and east is about $35.
I only use FedEx because of there low price and flawless record with me for 8 years.
Insurance is included and 32 axle value mandates a direct signature (fedex rule)
Shipping on your end
When you send an axle to me.
Please do not forget to include a note with contact info for you and instructions of what you need.
This is very important …. I get many calls and at times have a dozen of more customer axles here at one time.
Payments
All axles sent (your axle) are payment due when done.
All axles outright (mine) are payment due up front
I except money orders - personal checks - pay pal
Please note
I only drop 28 to 48 ford car and pickup axles and I do not prep for chrome - fill ends or drill holes.
These axles are obviously very old and most have small imperfections from abuse or wear and were not totally perfect (looking) the day they were made. That being said if your building a truly traditional car or pickup you already know there is no substitute for real early ford parts for the look and steel quality.
Dropped ford axles are never a simple bolt in and go.
You will need to drop / bend your steering arms or (if you must) cut off and replace them with aftermarket bolt on arms.
Also
Recently because of repairs to this site Ryan informs me that some old posts here were lost (this is a new one)
So my previous customer feedback of a few years are unavailable here.
I have copy’s of old feedback in my computer and can send them to you if you like ….. long story short .... Iv been doing this for 8 years - iv done over 870 axles and have very few complaints and all 3 were taken care of on my dime right away.
Thanks for looking
ID your axle
Greg is, with out a doubt, the best axle dropper working today. I just sent him yet another axle to drop. Here are some pictures of a 32 "heavy" that he did for me recently.
Greg did a 2" drop on a 33-36 axle for me...and I couldn't be happier. Actually I was showing a friend this axle last Saturday...and recommended your work.
Thanks...and I will be a repeat customer.
Neal
Just received two axles from Greg. One was both twisted and bent. Greg made it right and gave it a nice traditional drop. Looks factory. The other one needed some repairs and I asked Greg to drill it as well. Perfecto!!
Thumbs up Re: Dropped Axles for early Fords
I had Greg do my axle a few years back (In the original post ).
He dropped my '32 Heavy axle 2 1/2" and repaired the spring shackle "Dips" on the axle also. Turned out great! Very quick also. Will be doing business again for sure!
Thanks again Greg!
Greg is a true craftsman and Hot Rodder. He took my old bent axle from a farm trailer, dropped,straightened, and made it look like new.
There is no need to buy aftermarket axles when you can have Greg repair and drop an original
Here's a 3" drop Model A axle greg dropped for me. Every bit as nice as the 4" axle he dropped for my old truck. Great work.
I don't know why Greg is not "HAMB APPROVED", he does the finest dropped axle work next to Adam Young. Both Greg and Adam produce a nice proportionately dropped axle. The workmanship and accuracy is the finest, and on top of that, you will have a Henry Ford FORGED axle on your ride.
UPDATE - Greg just dropped another 32 axle for me, and once again the work was the best there is out there today.
Check out the V8 60 axle on the GNRS winner that Brizio built but GREG did the axle work.
WOW! I just had another 32 axle dropped by Greg and it is a first rate job. This axle had shackle marks and was bent and now it looks like new. Another killer axle for a traditional project. 5 th axle he's done for me!
