Default ID 50's GM OD Tranny

I'm looking at picking up a 55-57 GM OD tranny. The rear case is stamped R10X-1. I can't find anything on the R10X - lots on other R10 codes - R10H, R10E, R10G, etc..

Any idea what X signified? Would the parts swap over to my R10H-1? It looks exactly like my 55 R10H-1 (no rear crossmember mount).

Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been into 55s for 30 years.

I'm just considering this tranny, the pics aren't mine.

Sure looks like my R10H-1. I wonder what the X meant.
