I have a yellow sludge that has been forming in the bowl of my regulator/filter for a while. Its a craftsman shop size compressor. I have drained the tank and cleaned the filter many times. Seems like it is producing a ton of moisture. Anyone else had this problem? Just hoping its not a bad oil seal in the motor

I get some of that yellow crud out of mine every time I drain it. Stinks too.

It is normal, oil particulates combined with atmospheric air eventually travels from the tank out into the lines. Heavy use with lots of heat brings it out faster, the bowl it is condensing in is probably the centrifugal seperator before the regulator witch is good its doing its job.

They bottle it and sell it...its called Motor Honey....but it is made to put in an engine, kind of an ironic name...

Thanks everyone. Good to have some reassurance that my compressor isn't going to shit the bed in the middle of a paint job like the last one. And I did spread some of the substance on my sandwich at lunch and it wasn't half bad. hahaha
