Carl Fleischmann was a genius. Not the kind that walks around in a white coat and spits out calculations from the top of his head, but the kind that sneaks around quietly and drops intellectual bombs when you least expect it. He was known in the 1950... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here. |

Thanks for sharing this article. You're right, that is a incredibly cool car. I read the article as well, it just makes me grin, wanting more! I would really like to know what he did next to improve it!

Hacking off the tops of Strombergs today would be considered a cardinal sin,
not that I know what that is or why a red bird has a sin named after him but, I wonder if that was for hood clearance, and then we see pictures of a car with no hood??? wtfinch?

I'd drool all over it because i want to prove that old tech is as good as new exept that parts were less plentiful(cams, valve springs, ect.....)
As for the stromberg tops, they are one of the worst flowing parts of those carbs and he couldnt pull enough air so they simply cut them off....

He is said to be a genius, and he used disc brakes. Maybe I'm not so dumb (untraditional) after all?
