Yep, loved his stuff (and still do)...studied it quite carefully to "steal" his style...I think I got close....!!!

Met him in St. Paul one year and he even put my "pen name" (at the time) of "Swell" in one of his Street Rodder cartoons...


I have walls full of pen and ink illlustrations of friends car...

The boards done in vintage Boeing B29 fasteners(not rivits) and each decks Olive Drab is exact matched and mixed much like the original paint including the Toluene thinner and cadmium pigments. The goal was to make a paint chip that isn't actually chipped into the lower layer of polished aluminum paint. The board was drilled for the fasteners first, then 6 coats of wet sanded aluminum fine reset paint then distressed, silkscreened and hand painted.
