The Flamer '32 coupe

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by nostalgia59, Dec 24, 2011.

  1. In the 50's a high school kid named George Sein from Alhambra Ca. built this car and had Barris do his magic on it. Wild paint and striping highlighted the car that had all the custom touches of the period.

There was a thread just a couple days ago, on the roadster in that cover shoot..

That coupe rocks, bigtime...love the whole thing..as well as the early Cad with 2x4's

    EDIT:

The Flamer is alive and well in Colorado. It's in the process of being restored. It has pretty much stayed in it's original configuration all these years. It was repainted at one time, but the dash has the original paint and striping by Jeffries. The monkeys on the dash are rad.

The Flamer was striped by Jeffries and Von Dutch. They both signed it in the middle below the deck lid.

The Car Craft cover with the Flamer and Pollard roadster is one of my favorites, from a Graphic design standpoint and also from a hot rod standpoint. That cover is wild and must have really had kids either blown away or just hating the pair!

Nice, but the paints a little "busy".

Pat Ganahl did a great write up about the Flamer in his book Lost Hot rods. That is one of the best books that I have .

Dig the car, they should have used it in Grease instead of the white/silver convertable.

  13. A guy in Indiana did an inspired car without all the massive striping...colors look pretty good...

Looks like the water pump pulley is in an opening in the radiator. Never seen
that before. It is very cool though.

  15. I love that coupe. The paint is pretty wild considering all the one color paint jobs many cars had in the 50's. Does anyone else have any other pics or know of any other magazine coverage of this car?

I'm not big on the full wheel cover look, chrome reverse, pie crust whitewalls would look killer!

I remember the car from way back. the last time I saw it was being towed down Garvey Bl. in Montery Park, CA. Had a big trophy in it too.
