This is the Hi-Line Inn in Middleport. It was on Route 31 across from Lake Motors/Dunn's junkyard. The sign on the top says Southern Fried CHICKEN STEAK Dinners.

This is a picture of the Vernon Street bridge in Middleport as it was being built. The picture was taken from the towpath looking east. In the background is the Rowley & Eddy Lumberyard. The picture is from 1909. Thanks again to Dan McCabe for supplying this photo.

This photo is from 1913 and shows the newly built lift bridge in Gasport. Before this there was a high bridge over the canal on Main Street.

While we are in the neighborhood here is The Canary Snack Bar. It was located on the south side of Route 31 between Kayner Rd. and Don's Grill/Long's Pub/Jamesport Tap Room.

Nice old shots of Gasport, heck I remember listening to Al Moroone Ford ads on WKBW, while cruising to Crystal Beach

A short story!

Some young kids out driving!

They come to a crossing where an old lady wants to pass, so they stop.

Old lady takes to long to decide if she is going to cross or not.

Kids get tired of waiting and drive anyway, so the old lady have to jump back to the curb. She gives the kids the finger as they drive away laughing.
