Lightbulb My concept car gallery

I decided to put all the concept car images I have been collecting over the last couple of years in one place so other people could enjoy them as much as I do.

Inspired by Rik Hoving initially, its pretty much the same idea.

There are other places documenting such online, it isnt meant to be a place for text and facts but more to show the development of ideas & to inspire people to create their own concepts & maybe get a few built.

Even with something as simple as customising your car, you can see what other ideas the stylists had, which is why I feel it has a place here.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

If you wish to contribute your own art, scans, pictures. you can pm me here or I set up an email for the site which is mrjynx@rocketmail.com (this isnt my main email so please be patient if I dont reply immediately.)

Its about 50s styling so its 49-59 a little over each way I dont mind.
there is some 30s/40s in there.

Only a handful of images came from here, if anyone has a problem with anything being there & you can prove you own the rights to the image, then just come talk to me. there are credits in the about me.

The images are not for download as they all belong to other people, I know those who are computer savy can take anything they want,
I can only ask that you link to the site so more people can see it.

I hope it can grow as ricks site has, I will keep adding things as I get them. if you feel Ive missed anything (I know I have ) you can post here about it.

The accounts currently free so theres a limit to what I can upload, the normal car press release/promotional images are not that important so I have no request for those. nor are there any modern photos, unless needed due to lack of vintage ones. photos of surviving concepts, concours photos etc can all be very easily found through google.

I plan to keep in online for 3 years, after that if it continues to grow I`ll probably pay for a pro account. if all I get is negativity and hostility then I will probably take it offline.

in short, I hope you enjoy it.

Credits really go to the people who put the images on the internet, and have shared stuff with me here. I should credit beatnikpirate & rbantique for thier images too.
to upload things, edit, scale, etc has taken about 2 months. I didnt always have the best source images, I hope I can get better versions in the future.

"Harvey" Earl...??? I'm curious, what's the chances of some concept designer having the same last name as Harley Earl, the great Cadillac designer...??? You're sure it is "Harvey"...???

Other than that, great idea...love those concept illustrations...

Interesting idea. Might I suggest adding a folder for those small scale concept models? As a kid, I was always fascinated by the "contests" held in the 60's. I can't remember the details, but I think they were sponsored by the auto design firms, like Fisher.

In general, I almost always thought the factory concept cars and the designs in clay back then were far easier on the eye and a lot cooler than the goofy "show rod" or wacky theme customs of the 60's. Gary

PS.. just in. http://history.gmheritagecenter.com/...ar_Competition

Wow!
After just a couple of minutes viewing a handful of images I can tell I'll be spending some lunchbreaks at that site.
Thanks.
