1939-47 Dodge,Fargo and Plymouth trucks

Growing up My dad purchased a 1939 pickup as a project, funds were tight and it was put on hold for... well years until it was sold. I followed it from there until I had the chance to purchase it myself. My dad is still around and now I have the project we were always going to share, so...

What have you got? Info, Links and pictures would be apreciated.

I have a 42 fargo and a 46 dodge both projects or build one out of the two but being in the rust belt I need a set of affordable front fenders. Where are you as Canada is a big place. I looked for your intro but didnt find one.

Lots of info on the Dodge Pilot house board. Yours is an earlier model but the mechanicals are the same

lots of non hamb friendly on here. Just have to sneak them under the guards.

So are you planning on restoring the truck, or hot rod it? Before spending money on parts, you should deside a direction. Changing direction after parts have been purchased is a huge waste of money.

If keeping the original frame/drive train are not a high prority, a fairly inexpensive truck can be built. Those trucks fit nicely on Dakota frames, or your original frame can be updated. Drive train is wide open, but a slant 6 would fit your frame nicely and also fit under your frnders. (Me being a Mopar guy, I'd much rather see it stay Mopar drivetrain, but its not my truck.)

The carkiller 39 has a 355 292 cam, two 600 carbs G>E>R> powerglide. 2800 converter, 57 pontiac rear w/456 spool and strange axles on ladder bar coil over rear. I think it will be a sweet lttle altered. It will have a box w/fuel cell. 4 point roll bar.

I have a 1939 Plymouth truck that I'm restoring, had no brakes except for backing plates and drums when I signed the paper.

Bought master cylinder, shoes, springs etc. from Andy Bernbaum at oldmoparts.com.

There's a seller on that bay site that sells windshield but they ain't cheap.

I built this 1947 dodge with a 1939 front end and called it the war wagon.
I'm building a new one with a truck bed in back.

The cab had a 5" chop with the windshield laid back, stock boxed frame, zeed out back. It had buggy springs front and back.

They were only made for the export market from 1939-current if you count the ones that are still made overseas by a company in Turkey that bought the rights from Chrysler?

They were made in Detroit for the export market up through the 70s and were shipped to South Africa in CKD (Complete Knock Down) to be assembled there.

The Chrysler plant in Australia made their own versions in truck and passenger car versions like the 56 Desoto Coupe UTE I own and they also made a Plymouth version a few different times in the 40s and 50s
