It still looked like this 10 years ago.

PS Photo is 1940, technically into WW2 for Australia, but pre WW2 for the US. So ....... it's borderline. :)

Renault limo and some very serious faces. LOC photo. If this was RHD, the image got flipped by LOC, not me (this time). The side lights sure look a lot like E&J's.

Yes, those are E&J sidelights. On the top of the photo is the date-backwards. Looks like 10/14/13-plenty of time to change the lights.

Item 14267 zoom [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Description

This 1917 Garford Pumper is Old Town Fire Department's first motorized fire engine. It is also one of only two other Garford Fire Engines still in existence today (one is in Australia). The $3,310 Garford was used until it was sold in 1959. In the early 1990s Old Town Firefighter Bruce Johnson (now a Bangor Firefighter) led a team in the restoration of the venerable engine. Items of interest on the Garford include wooden spoked wheels, wooden sterring wheel, and brass oil lanterns along with the electric headlights.

    Description

This is the old 1883 Talbot & Moulton ladder carriage, formerly assigned to Ladder 3, and in 1919 to Ladder 1, and then refurbushed and assigned with Engine 6 and Hose 6, as "Ladder 6" at the Park Avenue firehouse in 1924.

This fire company was created in 1924.

The horses are "Fred" and "Joe," who were retired in 1929, replaced by a new Seagrave 75-foot wooden aerial ladder motor truck.
