Default 40's Ford driveshaft removal

I need to remove the driveshaft from my project car. Took the torque tube off and expected to find a driveshaft with a coupler so I could disconnect from pinion shaft. No coupler. My parts drawing from Sacramento Vintage Ford catalogue (32 -48)shows a coupler outside of the pinion bearings. What have I got here or is the drawing wrong? Do I have to pull the shaft and pinion bearings out of the banjo center section? Do I not have a 40's rearend, Model A maybe? I bought the car half finished and I am not sure what I have. It does have 42 to 48 rear brakes. Any help guys?

Not Model A, I found the same thing when I pulled one apart recently - definately 40's. I couldn't believe there was no coupler.

It's probably easier to find another one with the coupler, or cut it off, shorten it & sleeve it - if that is what you are trying to do. Sorry I can't be of more help

You're rearend is more than likely out of a 39 or 40 mercury, not sure how long they made em like that. for sure 39 and 40 were like how you described. hope that helps.
