Hey guy's, I have a lead on a 1930 model a truck, it's been completely restored, a while back, and I could get it for relatively cheap.
I've been looking at some other threads, such as this http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ht=model+truck, and couldnt really find any, cool, full fendered closed cab trucks. Any out there? If I get it, I was thinking of chooping it 6", adding, a dropped axle, juice brakes, 39 Ford trans and a newer powerplant (y-block, nailhead, or maybe even a flathead), 32 grill shell. Anybody have pictures, of model a, closed cab trucks??? Thanks, Chris I need inspiration

Model A closed cab pickups are cool but they are small and cramped in stock form. A 6" chop would make it even tighter. I have lower the seat in mine almost 4" to get some head room and want to move the seat back further back to get a little more room. I think they look great with fenders. People must have been shorter in the 30's.

Thats for sure about space.Thats why I like the 29s cause the cab is left over T parts and the cab is high. Not much you can do to make more leg room cause the seat is fastened to the rear of the cab. Had a friend in Sarasota, Fla. that let me use his 31 Pk Up when I was visiting. Going from a 29 to a 31 was very noticable and made my 29 seem very big.

Here is a picture I took at Bonneville this past August. I talked witht he father and son that put it together and then drove to Bonneville. They had just finished before taking the trip.
It is probably the nicest example of and early pickup I have ever seen, sounded great and obviously ran good also. |

I can't find big pictures of it but Hamber BrianAngus has a very nice 31A Full fendered RPU with a carson top called the Wild Canary. That is certainly a look to aim for if you ask me. He's done a very good job with it.

as for chopping...if you cut the back of the seat down so your shoulderblades actually touch the back of the cab, you would be amazed how much room it gives you ...I'm 6'0 and was driving a 32 pick up that was chopped 4 inches and channeled 2...this was a comfortable ride....for what it's worth ...
