Stolen Car in FtWorth - Update found

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flt-blk, Apr 11, 2007.

  1. My buddy Jim just got a call from the Impound yard in FtWorth.
This is all that's left of his car.

I'm not sure which is worse, losing the car all together, or recovering an empty hulk. Personally I see a highboy resurection project.

Here is the thread right after it was stolen

I would search for finger prints on the car. I would not let this rest if I were you. Tell your bud sorry for his loss. This makes me ..

  11. This is really breaking news, he got the call and pictures last night. He also
had the insurance settlement paperwork sitting on his car seat that he forgot
    to mail yesterday.

Don't know yet how it will work, but he does want what's left of the car back, otherwise I have first dibs on the city impound auction.

Well we need to keep an eye out for the rest of the car, If it shows up at swapmeets or on some piece of shits car, I dont care how many Ecalade's or Land Rovers get stolen, But a Hot rod or a Kustom is different, this makes me hate people even more.......

    John....

  13. i know the feeling dude and it sucks! had a renter make off with a 1936 plymouth coupe 20 years ago. got lucky when the dumbass that bought the stolen coupe came by the rental and asked if i had some headlights for sale and told him maybe gotta look at the car to make sure they will fit. dude gave me the adress and drove by seen it hit a payphone and showed up with the police. sorry about dude car big bummer!

What does he need to get back on the road.?? Maybe we could do some donations of parts if you know what I mean, or maybe he got lucky and had good insurance that will allow him to rebuild the car right with good parts.

And prime swap meet season is here in Texas. We got New Braunfels 20-22, and Pate the weekend after.
Tyler, can we get any "details" anything that might standout about the sbc, or anything else that might help us identify parts it in a sea of other parts?

I've had two cars stolen here in Texas and let me tell you there is no worse feeling except a death in the family. It rips your guts out. The odd thing is, I found both vehicles on my own, cops didn't do shit and won't do shit. Seems like about the time you start to get over it, you find it and have to go through all those emotions again. Car thieves should be killed like horse thieves 100 years ago. That would stop this shit. I guess that's why I get upset when I see a posting on how to "legalize" a car with no title. It burns my ass! Rant over!:D

    "LEADS?

Yeah sure, I'll just check with the boys down at the crime lab. They've got four more detectives working on the case. They got us working in shifts!"

(go watch the Big Lebowski, it's hilarious :D)

Tyler, what parts are we going to be looking for to identify what was stolen off the coupe?

Glad to hear Jim got his car back. Too bad there's not more left of it.

  25. The car started as a full fendered car with new steel fenders front and rear.
The color is red oxide primer with a shiny clear coat, the color is quite distinct, any sheetmetal fenders, running boards, hood and sides, etc with that color is supspect.

    Jim (817)988-8383

SBC with polished brackets and A/C is pretty hard to identify except for all
the wiring was done with red wire.
    Same on the tranny.
15" Vintiques steel wheels with radial blackwall tires, big and little
Stainless Model A bumpers front and rear
White bench seat I think it had red piping

Maybe if someone has all these take off pieces together??

I pulled this from the link to the origonal thread.

    Some distinguishing features:
-still has the same steelies and radial tires
-Trailer hitch as seen in the pic with the teardrop
-All the wiring is red wire.
    -It has AC
-Drop axle, disc brakes, Polished SS 4 bars
-The column drop is a piece of allthread with about 100 washers
-Dash has a round spedometer and one multi gage
-Automatic shifter is a slider bar on the left side of the dash, not on the floor or column.
-white bench seat with red piping
    -Interior garnish moldings are red.
-There is NO pinstriping or artwork on this car
-"Tanks" fuel tanks under the running board aprons.

Attached is the plate and a contact number for Jim if you find anything.

Thanks for all your support and help, I hope it is recovered.
He did have it insured, but not for full value.

  28. Somebody knows what everything is worth, except the body and axles... Ebay needs to be closely monitored.

  29. At least he can start building it back,he got the most importants pieces, the boby and frame not that it makes it any less shitty of a issue, very sorry for him.
