So this epic journey is gonna kick off bright and early on Thursday morning... Sometime before the sun comes up, Norm and I are gonna be boarding a plane headed for Boston, MA. As the date nears, I'm beginning to realize that this trip isn't the most... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here. |

You'll be fine... See you in Baltimore.
Well maybe pack an extra water pump and some fuel filters!

alright here are my guesses
run out of gas because of a faulty gas gauge, constantly blow fuses and not have headlights, get a clogged fuel filter and choke the motor out, overheating from bad flow, have a blow out, or have a brake drum lock up okay i will give others a chance now. safe travels!

Belts will come apart for sure. A water pump would be my second guess.

Voltage regulator goes out, found after your battery dies because it's not getting charged anymore.

You will be cruising side by side acting cool and taking pictures of each other when a big chunk of tread comes flying off your front tire, takes a weird bounce right into his car and knocks his coffee cup over.

Assuming twenty year old rubber stuff, I'm predicting tire , hose, and belt issues.
But, regardless, I predict you'll have a great time !! Go for it !! |

buy a spare fuel pump forom speedway motors they are cheep
you will have to do about 750 miles a day and that may give you some repair time spare battery , jumper cables, tools ,voltmeter and test lite tranny juice, some 15-40 diesel oil is good for fill ups gas can at least 2 gal and a tranny funnel and a tow rope is good if one of you is out of propulsion if you got too little to worry about rags, wheel beaing grease, brakeclean and likely you will have a couple wheel cylinder leaking by the time you reach home heck i messed up a brake drum hauling to world of wheels this winter and had to get it turned, that will really make a car crabwalk, bad going in a enclosed trailer, that was a field service repair, had a decent winter to work outside in indiana lasr year

Take a few jugs of water cuz it's going to overheat.
May want to get your own temp gauge to hook up in case the one in the car doesn't work right. Could have a battery fail or ground/hot cable corroded (or other random gremlins under the hood). Take a test light with some wire and connector kit. ....hell....take all your tools.

leaky radiator and possible flat tire from flat spotted tired due to sitting (in addition to gas issues).
the less you stop, the fewer issues you will have... |
