Default Gasser Gasser Gasser!! 1962 Falcon Futura with a BLOWN NAILHEAD by Chuckles Garage

I will preface this thread with the following statement:

I am not of sound mind.

Now that I've got that out of the way.......I have found a new use for the Chuckles Sedan's old motor. I'm going to put it in my 1962 Falcon.

I am going to make this as period perfect as I possibly can. This will be a REAL Gasser built to the 1965 NHRA rule book.
  • spindle mounts
  • 6x2 Nailhead with maximum setback (NOW a Littlefield blower with 2x4 4-Jets)
  • 4 speed or a switch pitch
  • 2x3 ladder frame
  • 9 inch
  • econoline front axle (changed to straight tube)
  • fenderwell exit pipes
  • no hood
  • no interior, just a dash pad a couple seats, and some period instruments.

It will be called the STRANGE BIRD!

Take the time and look through the thread, skipping to the end is for suckers.

Part 2 of this thread is continued here:

PART TWO.....Gasser Gasser Gasser!! The Adventures of the "Strange Bird" Blown Nailhead Falcon.

Wasn't the nailhead obsolete as a racing engine by 62?

Exactly

We would prefer all the stuff to be obsolete but most is normally what we end up with.

A nail in a Futura a little different but in a good way.

I do like that!

Ford makes it, Buick shakes it, and Hurst hooks it.

It was produced from 57-66 so I'd say NO to that one.

But I also can't imagine anyone would have done this. Big FE motor, Yes, but a Nailhead, not bloody likely

Use the engine for another project and use the Falcon for another project. Or just make a gasser out of it all and call it 'why?'

HAHAHA....."why"

I'm not looking to be talked out of using the combo together. It works for me. It should generate alot of double takes when people walk by it for sure.

Go with the Nailhead because no one will expect it, plus you'll piss off all the "correct" experts.
Call it "Insanity" because who would be be insane enough to put a Nailhead in a Falcon? Oh... maybe you. LOL! GO FOR IT!
