  1. My favorite has to be my 1570cc drag bike running full tilt. Launches around 9000 and shift at 12500rpm. That is music.

Boy that brings back memories! I went down to the local Sears catalog store and bought a chrome vacuum cleaner extension. It just would slide over the Briggs muffler. Man I thought that was the coolest sounding thing on the block! There were 6 of us with Minibikes. Sounded like a heard of wild lawnmowers coming down the alley.

First: when I was 11 my best friends dad bought a '69 boss 302 (my dad"-who the hell would pay $2500 for a mustang with 12,000 miles on it"...) as he pulled away redlined in 3rd that sound pretty much ruined me.
The BRM is wonderful, especially for the era. Beep's Lincoln is Badass, much deeper than the Hemi, (at least to me). There's also a v16 sports car similar to Lambo that is wicked, but I can't find it(yet). Oh yeah and x3 or 4 on MrTim's Y block! Damn!

  8. Not hambalicious but for sheer techanical complexity and mechanical genius consider the 1955 Moto Guzzi 500cc V8. 8 cylinders, 8 carburators, 4 camchafts and bring your feeler gauge and dwell meter-8 seperate sets of points. This thing has exhaust valves the size of a pencil eraser. All this and more in a V8 of 30 cubic inches. Raced during '55, '56 and '57 there was no rumbling, bumbling throaty sound from this little lady, it's more like a bee.

Ok, we've had aircraft engines. How about a 2 cycle 200 HP Mercury Black Max outboard. Has a great sounding BARK at idle that newer 4 cycle outboards will never match. Mind you smokes like a SOB at idle too but thats a good thing............[IMG]

This is not HAMB friendly, but watch the reactions of the people at the end of the video. I prefer the sound of an Offy at full scream, or pretty much anything on nitro, but I heard one of these about 30 years ago, and nothing ever matched it for scream power.

Also the old snowmobile drag engines could be pretty intense!

I've had big block vettes, mopars, and Fords. Nothing gives me goose bumps like my Harley 510 twin Crower cams, gear drive, programmable ignition, vance & hines staggered pipes, Screaming Eagle big bore kit and carb kit.
