  2. Do your self a favour guys and get on YouTube and put in B.R.M - a sound that is truly amazing, in fact awesome. I do it every time I need laugh, the sort of laugh that musicians do after the play a great piece of music.

Street machine magazine here in Australia have put out CDs with engine sounds recorded on them and the best in my opinion is the Warwick Yellow 327 Chev powered Holden HK Monaro recorded at Lake Gairdiner here at Australia's salt lake racing - accelerating up to 180 MPH , you can hear the whole event disappearing into the distance. You may remember this car as it did attend Bonneville just last year.

Do the B.R.M. YouTube search though, you'll be glad you did! -H.R.D-

If I knew how to do the link, I would. Maybe some one can find a good clip and link it to this thread!! -H.R.D-

    In no particular order:
    Nitro Flathead Ford
    Ferrari Colombo V12
    SBC 283, or 327
I've heard that Hydrazine was a thing to behold but never actually heard a motor running on the stuff. Tried to get some just to blow a motor up, but never could aquire any.

Hiya Spoggie! The injected nitro engine has no blower 'lag'. When you rap the throttle, they respond instantly,it's like a shotgun blast. And,they 'ring' (resonate) the headers!

  13. Gday 51 BIRD! How those 2 bumpsticks sing in good crisp winter air!
Also heard (and as already mentioned)- a C/G (chopped Escort) 289 little Ford with mechanical injection ( Enderle or Hilborn, wish I could recall) on whatever fuel/ engine mods was permissible in Gas class was also a scary- instant throttle blast.

This is a slightly wierd thread (good for google searches), but sound had a lot to do with why we love these cars- first cars I heard as a kid was a pair of 327 C/Gassers. So tough.

Early engine; Anything flathead V8 in a car and RRM V12 in an airplane

Late engine; small block Ford with mech. fuel injection in an GT-40 with those intricate headers. KILLER:)
Or Ford SOHC V8 on pops!!:)

But than again, all V8 sounds really good on pops:D.

Here are an early engine, but not with the right tune-up....

Umm...that BRM H-16 sounds amazing. Just so damned angry, I love it! Thank you for that.

  18. My kid daughter instructed me on how to link up the YouTube clips. Thank god for kids!

This clip is of the 1950's BRM V16 - my favourite all time sounding engine.

BRM also made a successful "H"16 racing engine as well.

There is plenty of BRM fodder on YouTube to enjoy, I do regularly. -H.R.D-

Go on, do it. Press the link!

My favorite sounding motor without a doubt is a hot 351C, especially the motor in my racecar. 377 inches, BIG roller cam, BIG tube headers and mechanical injection pumping alchy thru the motor just makes a sound you never forget.

  24. I really like the sound of healthy big block Chrysler still waiting to hear what a 427 SOHC sounds like

Hopped up old Cadillac v8s sound awesome through 2 inch straight pipes. I also like any of the pre 1940s engines with more than 8 cylinders.

Which brings to mind Joe Panak's 34 Ford with crank driven 8:71 blown V12 Cadillac on fuel. Ran around 185 at the lake as I remember. There is a car that should come out and run again
