Sure there were bare metal cars and some with rust.....they were mostly in the garage being FINISHED.There was a saying going a round that went something like this..."Take Pride in Your Ride".
A classmate brought this to share with our 6th grade class in 1970-71, still sounds good. I hear Glen Campbell is responsible for most of the guitar work.
Not vintage, but this one is pretty cool from Junior Brown.........and the car is kinda' famous via Disney. Chris
"Hot Rod Rally" I still have it and still play it!! I also have "Checkered Flag" by Dick Dale--AUTOGRAPHED Dick is a true class act and can kick the arses of most modern "guitar gods" around the moon.....
Dick Dale signed this when I met him. He told me I should buy his new album, "it's much better than this old stuff!" HA! Unfortunately, I don't have the record, only the sleeve. This may be the greatest thing ever recorded:
I love those old "Drag Racing Sound Effects" albums....I've got a few of them framed and hung.. There was a night, back in my wild youth, when we stretched a friend's high powered stereo speakers out to the front lawn in a quite little cul-de-sac, spun some drag racing records and turned the volume to 11 every time one of the cars revved. Mind you, this was somewhere in the small morning hours..... One by one the neighbor's house lights started coming on. You wouldn't believe the confusion we caused!!
