In 1950, Byron Boji and a few of his buddies loaded up in Chicago and headed for Bonneville. You can only imagine the excitement as a bunch of mid-western hot rodders prepared to be injected into the very best of west coast hot rodding. And when they...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Nice pix! Always love the old Bonneville photos. BTW Pam at the alliance head quarters looks a lot like Buck Turgensons sec.
The trip is sure different today on Interstate 80! With those trucks and two lane blacktops it must have taken four days.
that's what i was thinking. it took us 24 hours of straight driving in a motor home, a couple hours less in a car or pickup.
Its hard to imagine the lack of amenities on the salt or Wendover in the 50's as compare to today.... Great pic's....
Ryan - Very Cool! ... "Bonneville Goodness" for sure! Kevin Boji - Thanks for allowing Ryan to share your father's pics with us ... much appreciated!
I am just old enough (42) to remember when the final stretches of Interstate getting completed here in SD. It truly was a different world back then, BI-Before Interstate!
Please Sir can we have more? Another east coaster Fran Bannister also ran in 1950. Great to see a clear shot of the Downey Bros. Wha Hoppin special 1924 T. I could be wrong but I believe that those Downey bros are the same ones who built the Blue '26 Supe Job in 1932 as featured in Dain Gingerelli's Hot Rod Milestones
Cheers Ryan! Thanks Nic!! They are, aren't they, more, more!!!!!! Thanks Todd! I posted as soon as I had my morning coffee wake up.
Makes you wonder what other pics are floating around out there, only to be lost to an estate sale or just tossed out as unimportant, meaningless photos afters ones passing. Thanks for getting them to Ryan for us all to enjoy! Very nice.
It's hard to fathom Bonneville's photo history... What I mean by that is for many years the same cars were campaigned yet each photo brings the event to life through many visual perspectives! Ever notice when there are several threads on one car show but the way the car photo's are taken by many different people it almost appears like they were all at a different show. (or is it only me that notices this kind of stuff?)
