As kid this was one of my favorite shows, great memories! Thanks for bringing them back.

 

I also remember watching that show.

 

I liked the hammer at the as much as the show.

Oh yeah, I forgot .... it's Los Angeles. Famous for its rain and cold!

 

Loved Dragnet, also Adam 12. I grew up in Studio City and they filmed Adam 12 all around that area. Watching re-runs is like going home to the '60s for me. I stood next to Jack Webb when he directed a scene from the Adam 12 pilot where Reed and Malloy chased the bad guys down into the wash. My brother is actually in the scene for a couple of frames where the cars go down the wash under a bridge, he and a buddy are leaning over the rail watching. Webb wasn't a complete hard-ass, he had a sense of humor.

Lots of mp3 Dragnet radio episodes are available for free download at The Internet Archive. I listen to one during lunch most days. In one of them guys from a car club help Friday find a renegade driver that ran down a girl in a crosswalk.

 

I just watched 4 episodes yesterday while the Mrs. was powerwashing the house.

PS This is an early show. Later on they changed it to read "A Mark VII Production."

 

Yep, I downloaded episode - "the big rod" and play the audio on iPod at shows every now and then. -now I will be showing it on the iPad with "the cool rod" .....thanks Ryan.

Bad acting,bad writing....but somehow a great show.

 

Wanna hear something funny? I've got the copy of HRM that contains an article on the "Big Rod" episode, and in it, they show a picture of the real Wally Parks at the set--maybe he was too nervous and kept screwing up his nonexistent lines!

 

What got me on the second incarnation of the show (1967-70) would be when he'd say something like, "It was June 12, it was hot in Los Angeles...." but he'd still be wearing the same sport coat that he wore when he said, "It was February 4, it was cool and damp in Los Angeles....".

 

Another trivia note: Thats Jack Webbs hands chizling the "VII" into stone.

Cool! I really dig these old shows and "B grades", anything with Hoodlums and Hot Rods.

That was also one of my all time favorite shows ! I still watch them now and then . I have a collection on a bunch of DVDs . Just gotta love those kool cop shows of the 50's & 60's !

Back in the real days of hotrodding, when hotrod clubs were trying to improve the image and not trying to be "hoodlums", Jack Webb was a friend to the hobby and did a lot to help the NHRA get going.

I love Daragnet. I watched the late 60's comeback of the show on TV when I was a kid and for the past 4 years I've listened to the old radio shows on XM Radio Classics. This was a cool episode. Jack Webb was a righteous dude!
