Okay guys and gals... By popular demand, I'm starting this reference list of machine shops for shops that will do early Hemi work. This one is going to take awhile to fill up. Let's get all hands on deck for lists of machine shops in your area that you know will do the work we need.

Here's what I would like to list for each reference (when possible):

    1) Name of shop or specialist
    2) Location and address
    3) Contact info (phone and/or email, website)
    4) Specific service they provide (I.E. head work, block work, complete builds from pans to carbs, etc.
    5) Feedback if you have it (I.E. this place did horrible work OR this place was very good)

PM me the info or email me the info: [email protected]. Put "Hemi shop" in the subject line for me so I know what the heck is being sent to me.

NOTE! I will add positive and negative feedback to the list! KEEP IT HONEST! This is not a place for dirty laundry, but I think feedback is important. I have a Hemi block that was machined incorrectly and is ruined. The idea of this thread is to help prevent that.

    Thanks guys!!

I'd just like to add that I've always had very good experiences with Jerry at Engler Brothers in Santa Monica, California. I can't say enough good stuff about his work, and his prices are very reasonable.

I'm specifically interested in Wisconsin, as that is where I am at. The only local shop I could trust is no longer in business. The owner, my mentor, just passed away. RIP Jim.

with good machine shops far between, this thread may be valuable to expand beyond hemi specific. just a mention of a great machine shops and notes if they do hemi, flathead, etc would be awesome.

For those folks in san jose--- i DO NOT recommend AV Machine, which is downtown. Sloppy work. I'd love to find a reliable source in town...

DP Machine (972) 840-2242... Is this in Dallas?? What's the address?

Performance Engines in Celina, TX.... JJ, you have a phone and address for this place? Thanks man!

performance automotive supply... Any more info on this place? Address? Is this in DFW area too? Phone? Anything?

Thanks everyone for the help with this!!!! I've been real busy and I've gotten a little behind on the HEMI Tech stuff, especially this thread. Anything you guys can email or PM me, would be appreciated!!

    ALSO.... PLEASE READ THIS!!

I know some of you guys prefer certain shops over others so you tend NOT to produce info on the shops you DON'T like... I completely understand! It's not helping though. If there's shops out there that you're not speaking up about because of a bad experience, this is the place to make your experience known so you can help others. Your comments can be stated HERE in this thread. This is the perfect place for it! Just make it very clear what shop you're talking about and make the facts clear for people to understand. Let's keep it as professional as possible without extra gossip. Getting this thread locked or erased won't help anyone! If someone wants more info, maybe they can PM you and you can be as colorful as you like. Just want to keep the facts... well... FACTS!

Did I just use the word "proffessional" in a HAMB thread? Maybe it should be HAMBfessional?

So, rather you like the shop or not, WE NEED THE INFO!! PLEASE!!

    (pretty please?)

    Thanks everyone!!!

With a thousand new lawyers graduating every year, bad experience can turn into defamation rather quickly. It all depends on what the meaning of "is" is...

Agreed. Everyone should keep that in mind.

Seriously though! There are tons of states that still need to be filled out! We only have 7 STATES with machine shops that work on Hemis??? 43 more to go!

NJ: Roger's Speed Shop, 217 South Ave, Garwood, NJ. (908)789-1322

Excellent machine shop, very easy to deal with and reasonable prices. They machined my 350 SBC. The work they performed: hot tank block and heads, install cam bearings and freeze plugs, bored .030 over, rods resized and new bolts installed, crank cut .020 and polished and chamfered, new pistons hung on the rods (all materials were supplied by me)...total cost was $770.

I don't know about flatheads. He did have a 392 Hemi ready to go after my 350.

I have heard from reliable sources that they aren't necessarily the best for assembly. However, as I assembled my engine, I was checking tolerances and they were all VERY tight and to spec. Excellent work and I would deal with them again

Gerald Brand is helping me with my Dodge 270. He modified my forged pistons on the lathe to compensate for the head and block decking, cleaned the block, sleeved one cylinder, and when UPS gets done playing with my cam bearings, he's going to put those in. He is also balancing my internals (static and dynamic).

He's the best machinist I've found in Oklahoma City, and has been very reasonable in prices.

He doesn't specialize in Hemi's, but he understands engines, machining, and racing.

WOW! Now we're getting somewhere! I've filled in quite a bit more! Keep 'em coming! This is such a huge help! If all this helps even one, single, person, I'll be happy!

19Fordy... Nice lookin' motor man! Bet she screams! Post up some pictures in the HEMI Tech "examples" section for everyone!

    Thanks everyone for your help!

Oh yeah, if you guys have websites for any of these places, let me know. If I've posted anything incorrectly, let me know that too. I'm thinking that once we get this all filled up, I may even go back and put links to Google Maps for each of the addresses to make it even more user friendly. We're a little ways away from that though...

I'll add another one for Michigan. The guy is a retired Chrysler engine builder that does Hemis from his little shop. He currently is fixing a cracked block for me as well as some head work. He does it all from carb to pan. Also trans and rear axles as well. Doug Maykovich 1-248-474-8377 located in Livonia,Michigan.

There's been some new info added above in the list. It's a new year. I plan to keep the year busy and I also am going to work on trying to get at least one machine shop for each state. I've got a long ways to go!! I could really use your help guys. Anything anyone can add, please PM me or if you're just browsing the HAMB for good info, you may also email me at [email protected].

    BTTT for a new year!

Talk to Jeff Fowler. These guys build tons of blown-alky stuff, every type of Hemi known to man, flatheads, tractor pull engines, etc.. They do top-end work and treat people fairly. Also, they are one of the few blower rebuilders in this area of the states -- have a full time guy that only builds race blowers.

Thanks man! :D I will put this up as soon as the "EDIT" feature reappears. I've been told it's in the works.
