We are NOT making any CLAIMS so don't get your panties in a bunch . We do think Keith went pretty fast in his street legal , still street driven y- block powered three window . He had a 175 limit this year so he went 175.539 . Ted Eaton of lorena Tx built the engine and came along to help dial it in .
We know that many hambers are knowlegable so lets hear about other y-blocks that were / are faster

Just search rolling bones , it's the 59c three window that belongs to my partner Keith . there are lots of pictures of it over the last several years

  5. Thanks:eek:

Dig how you cats get these things haulin' butt. I know this is an awesome engine thread, but the suspension/ chassis ( rollin' bones..) @ 175- that lights my wick!

My first thought was Doane Spencer and his T-Bird. But I checked... He took the car to Bonneville twice in near street trim, turning 149.53 mph in 1961, and 166 mph in 1966.

175.539 is damned fast in a bona fide street car. Add in the facts that it's a 56 year old engine design, pushin a car with the aerodynamics of a concrete block and it becomes very impressive.

That is moving for a street driven hot rod with any engine. There has to be a landspeed historian out there with a list of top speeds run by Y blocks and probably most other engines.

There is a photo of a cake on his build thread that says congrats 127mph and that is hauling the mail with a Y block in that big box.

    First day

From what I could find the yellow F100 didn't run this year. At least the number it carries didn't run this year.

    What about Karol Miller's '56?

  22. Tim did 127 as a best in the Uni. It was a mild shake down engine. His goal is over 2 bills.

Keith did awesome! Your pits were like a small city! And was a pleasure hanging with Ted! As a small journal (and W motor) Chevy guy it was neat to learn about another series of engines!

  23. Charlie was our mentor out there and helped Tim all weekend, he retired the Yellow Brick, it is going back on the street. I had so much fun learning from Charlie and the rest of the folks mentioned!:)

Remember the "yellow brick" is only a 250 something to say in a competitive class... a stroked 312 say 337 would be a unfair comparision

  25. In the '60's there was a modified T bird running in Sports class,,not sure if it started with a Y,,pretty sure it had something else in it later on,,,,

Congratulations Keith & Ted. Another feather in Teds cap to go along with his showing at the Engine Masters Challenge this year.

So what's the actual name on the entry and the SCTA registration number? --So I can find it in the Bonneville results.
