Hood Emblem...Chevy???

What year is this hood emblem..I've been checking on the web and no luck...it's got to be a Chevy Impala...right...???...Oh..the tag on it says 52 Chev..

 

Where are all the Chevy guys...this emblem is not to be found...I was at this site...http://www.pbase.com/steeleumc/anitque_car_ornaments..and someone wrote a post about this same emblem...puzzling???...anyways it does have a part number BLC 3695864. I'm wondering if it's a special order item. I bought about 25 hood emblems and this was one that was tagged 1952 Chevrolet???...maybe you 52 chevy guys can tell me it's not one..wondering if it's something else??

My 51 never had that emblem and it was the original emblem.

 

I agree with you..but it's listed on 2 other website areas as a 51 hood emblem????.....I'm puzzle also...I have not seen a Chevy car with it mounted on the hood...plus if it's an Impala...they didn't have that out yet??

they call it a gazelle in my hood ornament book. and confirm it as a 51 chevy. looks like the part number should be 3695865 though. maybe a misprint?

I looked it up in three books, U.S. Hood Ornaments and More, Cars of the Fabulous 50s, and Chevrolet 1911-1985. All three books show '51s with the hood ornament, factory accessory. I must have the same hood ornament book madpole has.

There are three for sale on eBay right now; one is at $150

Well I found one on EEEEbay...it was a optional hood emblem for 51 - 52 chevys...mine has the stud mounts with the nuts...gee you learn something everyday with vintage cars...

Customcory...you were on this one...I re-read your post..you knew it was the Golden Gazelle......OR did you...

 

Beating a dead horse here, but its a "factory accessory" like some 51's and 52's you could option for a butterfly steering wheel. They repop thoese hood birds and you can get them through chevs of the 40's or carshop.
