Great build, now put on two very thick coats at the same time to make like a fire suit and see how you fit. Keep up the great work and make sure you look me up at the salt.

Hey guys, if u can purchase Castrol B353 synthetic oil , it will sure help with heat problems , I used in race engines(wet and dry sump) with excellent results, these engines were run in 200-300 lap races, unforntunatly we can not purchase it here in Canada anymore.

Hey I wish I had seen this post a couple of weeks ago when I was in Belgium I would have loved to have made a visit. I should be building the body and painting the"City of Burbank" for the owner and to make it to the salt this year. (http://www.bonneville2012.com/). If you are near Hasselt in the next couple months check out the exhibition I am in at Z33 http://www.z33.be/en/projects/space-odyssey-20. Good luck with the project - very nice work

    A coupe things here ....

-remember to do all your mocking-up and measuring while wearing a fire jacked (or two coats) and your helmet. The spacing between the top/ sides of the helmet is very important as well as the distance from the front of the helmet to the front of the cage (look in the book under Lateral Head Restraints)

-is the bar that the top of the cage is resting on already welded in? i know it would be a lot of work, but if it is just tacked in place you may want to consider removing it and making the top of the cockpit tie directly into the center bars of the cage. (i hope that makes sense). the vertical bars are what's going to help of you go wrong-side-up and it is ideal if they are not split for a bar to go through. you would be better off with that horizontal bar being fish-mouthed around the vertical bars. it's not the end of the world either way and it's not something that would keep you from passing tech. just a suggestion.

-lastly, keep your welding gaps in mind- especially with the fish mouths on the cage. you want them almost water-tight with a small bevel before you weld. if you're having to fill a gap, it's probably worth redoing.

i don't mean to be a prick and i hope that helps! safety first!!!

Yes, we checked and followed the rules of the Rules Book. We have oversized the distances to be on. and we have checked through this mock-up.

No, this is the Mock-up, it is not yet sealed.
We received the roll cage tubes to the next weekend.

Yes you are right, but the roll cage on the photo is not finished
There will be a tube between the middle horizontal tube and the horizontal tube which is installed the roll cage driver. Because in case of pressure, the horizontal tube where the roll cage driver, he would not survive.

Yes, absolutely, there is actually very rough, we use the program "tubemitter" to have perfect fish mouth ( in french "Gueule de loup" "wolf mouth"). we avoid having large separation between of each item, for to have a maximum absorption of the metal.

Absolutely not, on the contrary, I appreciate that kind of comment, at least we can perceive that something is a wrong build. Our goal is to run at Bonneville, then all advice is welcome.

    Thanks Rob.

Fantastic thread, with some beautiful photography. I wish you all the best in achieving your (and probably most people's) dream to race a belly tank at Bonneville.

Thank you again for your comments.

Cool video "Shoeboxke", We saw this belly-tank when we was a child, The video was taken in 1999, we had 17-19 years.

Here are the photos of :
the pilot Roll cage and the cutting the hull, a little tension for cutting the Hull, finally much tension in real.

You can see a drawing on the hull, that's the next cut, which will be used to exit the Belly-tank. It will be fixed by fasteners from a Helicopter, and they are "Made in usa" (Los Angeles).

We still need to add the gussets for the pilot Roll cage, like asking in the Rules book in Section 3.B.1

We are very happy to see the Belly, with his hull, it changes at each step, for the moment.
